Chris Langham Faces Indecent Image Charges
Unbelievable, hoping it turns out to be a massive mix-up
RE: Chris Langham Faces Indecent Image Charges
As he was nicked for it last November and was charged when he answered bail it seems unlikely to be a mix up
Snaps
When we are born we are naked, wet, hungry, and we get smacked on our arse. From there on in, life gets worse
RE: Chris Langham Faces Indecent Image Charges
Was it Operation Ore where they got the credit card details from a payment system that dealt with subscriptions for both child porn and also for legal stuff?
Though if it`s for creating indecent images (which my understanding is it`s not taking photos it`s Photoshopping existing ones) they must have looked on his computer to see that.

Nope. If you look at an indecent image on your PC, the fact a `copy` of that image is on your hard drive is called `creating an indecent image`. I think it`s legal speak for browsing for CP, sounds incredibly tenuous, but let`s face it, if you`re stupid enough to use a credit card to get child porn you deserve everything you get.
AFAI understand, 15 counts of `creating indecent images` mean they found 15 indecent pictures. However, I can put my hand up to visiting `specialist sites` (Hun, stile...) and the banner ads on those sites are probably still in my temp folder.
Although, i am totally shocked at this news. I liked Chris is pretty much everything I saw him in, including that episode of the muppets where they couldn`t find any celebrities that wanted to appear that particular week.

Wouldn`t that just be "downloading"?
If it`s 15 thumbnails that he had on his PC then it`s scary that even if a person finds themselves on a horrible website and leaves it immediately they`ve still commited a crime. Though I suppose he should`ve reported it if that was the case.

Absolutely, but as they`re technically `creating` the image, they call it that and the perpetrator is punished accordingly. It`s basically making a mountain out of a molehill and dishing out the heaviest possible charge for the action.

Yup. if you find yourself accidentally on a website containing child pornography, first thing you should do is call the police (after at least disabling your internet connection). If you try to delete everything, it`ll just complicate matters if you`re found out.

And the police are sympathetic and understanding if someone coughs to accidentally finding sites or ads for that sort of thing?
Call me paranoid, and no offence intended to officers as individuals, but not sure I`d feel able to approach the police if it happened to me.
Would others be more trusting? Who wants to start a poll?

Start a poll, by all means.
I had a IT manager whose mate was arrested for having kiddie pic`s on his PC, by simple fact the content had downloaded into his cache, during his browsing & ITO of one of the officers had a picture of a girl who was in his opinion a minor.
Try seeing what Bob makes of lesbian`s by dint of a mere typo on the url as THO did some years back, for those that doubt what can end up on your PC fairly easily. ;)
I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

Put me down for `XFG and Stantz not living in the real world`.
Honestly, xfg and Stantz, are you seriously saying you would phone the police immediately after accidentally coming across (sic :/ ) a dodgy website ?
Get real eh ?
"Hello,I`d just like to report that I accidentally visited a child porn website and trust that will clear the matter up"
AYE RIGHT !
I would foresee two possible scenarios, depending on the officers you spoke to.
1/ You`d be voted `freak call` of the night and they`d all have a good laugh.
2/ They would assume the `no smoke without fire` attitude and you`d find yourself in a world of hurt.
