Hi,

Does anyone know if you have to lag plastic pipe ?

Had the heating done a few months back but the pipes are not insulated... do you need to ?

Ta.

I would. Plastic doesn`t conduct heat as well as metal or copper, but still enough to burn money.

rigger,

like stantz posted. If you lag the plastic pipes then any heat stays in your system. No point heating areas you don`t want to. Put your hands on the unlagged plastic pipes. If it feels warm/hot then you are wasting your money.

hello im a plumber.you should lag plastic pipes to prevent heat loss on central heating.9mm thick lagging is fine.also the pipes can still freeze if they are in a loft etc.also you can get condonsation dripping from them.cheers. :D

Cheers Dass.

No pipes in the loft, but do have quite a bit underfloor. There are some PARTS of the length of pipe which are just a nightmare to get to to lag due to the access, will this matter too much do you think,

My concern is more a freezing one than a heat loss one.

Seems the easier search facility you mentioned works quite well Rob.

Heh, they find these threads through google more than the search. Which is why they resurrect them with the spam link, because they came up in their search terms.
