It came as such a shock to me when I read it on teletext this morning - just when did this news break?

Whenever it broke, I was a bit gutted to read about it. He was the main reason I loved the Superman films so much(and still do).

It seems he had a bed sore (fairly common with his condition) & went into hospital but the condition let a bug into his system causing a heart attack from which he went into a coma & never came out of.

Christopher. RIP. Well done to his wife Dana for sticking by him. A truly greater than life artist.

He broke his neck 4 months before I broke mine. I only heard that he died of heart failure but did not know the circumstances that led to it; I have had numerous pressure marks but none so bad that they needed hospital treatment. I didn`t like that he lived his life post accident waiting for what may be rather than accepting his disability and getting on with life but it is a setback for spinal research in the US.

Very sad news indeed - the superman movies were the first ones i ever watched, and the first i saw at the cinema. He was a tremendous driver for research, and lets hope that his death will not slow the process down, and maybe even bring to the fore an issue which could help remove bush from power :/

Sad sad news.
I remember as a child watching the superman movies and cheering when he`d rip his shirt open to reveal his superman symbol.
In my mind when ever superman was ever mentioned he was always christopher reeve,i don`t think anyone else could ever replace him.
I was almost moved to tears when i saw a documentary about Christopher and how his life had changed since his accident,he was a strong and determind person and will be missed by many.
