Can someone help me here:
Two Towers (Cinema) : 12A
Two Towers (DVD) : 12
Doe`s this mean there are cuts in the DVD/VHS version???????

I`m not sure I completely follow you, but the 12A is only a cinema rating, but the normal 12 still applies to Video/DVD releases. So there shouldn`t be any cuts.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

The reason the home video/dvd release has a higher rating is because the film will reach a larger audience. The Same thing happened when Batman came out, giving birth to the `12` rating. When the film was released on VHS, it was a `15` and everyone wondered what all the initial fuss was about.

Basically, when you watch a fight scene in a cinema, you see a particular fight sequence once, it`s over quickly, and the story moves on. When it`s at home however, you can see the same scene over and over, and should a younger eye be witness to this repetition, no doubt they will pick some of it up.

Of course, all this would only be relevant if everyone who purchased a rated DVD only let those of the appropriate age watch it. My 9-year old niece loves Deep Blue Sea...

Actually, when Batman came out, the `12` rating only applied to cinemas, so it had to get a `15` rating on video - regardless of any arguments about home viewing.

If only somebody would whack the BBFC over the head with a shovel and put it out of its misery. They`d only be done for cruelty to dumb animals.

LOL - How would a 12A work on video - the kid takes a parent up to the till to promise they`ll sit with them when they watch it ?!?!

Should you allow kids to watch higher rated 15,18 cert dvds/videos? My 13 yr old son,s fav dvd is the Matrix(15),but he,s also watched other dvd,s I,ve got; Blade/Blade2, Enter the dragon,T1/T2.He wouldn,t be able to see them at the cinema,I suppose parents have to decide? Was thinking of getting `the Thing` (4.99in Hmv),my sons seen the game on pc/xbox,but if I get the dvd,he,s gonna want to see it!. It was a bit shocking at the cinema 18cert, should I let him watch it on the 5.1 setup in the lounge?Apart from the obvious dvds!, what shouldn,t they watch, ie horror(exorcist)?. Its difficult when your kids like your movies! Any thoughts?
