Just wondering if anyone has had a warning e-mail about exceeding the 1gb daily limit on NTL??

they haven`t sent an email as far as i can tell they have just added it to there "acceptable use policy" when i heard about it i rang ntl technical help and pointed out that when i signed up the first thing i asked was are there any limits on the amount i can download to which they replied absolutly not "we don`t do that sort of thing you can use it as much as you want" to which the guy on the phone replied-prove it--how sh*t is that and this limit applies to everyone even the 1meg and above costomers (i just wish i`d pressed the record function on the anserphone before i rang)

I think NTL will come out worse with this idea of capping there broadband connection as a few people i have spoken to are going to downgrade back to 128k which is only £14.99 a month.
which basically means NTL will lose money rather than make money and we all know that they have been in financial trouble for quite awhile.

pulling stunts like this and it won`t be long before the company folds altogether,i`ve also noticed that they are not laying any more cables around my area and have not done so for about two years.

they would be better off layng more cables and offering broadband to a wider public rather than stinging there customers

I am not a proponent of companies who supply ADSL but the limits are imposed to maintain the quality of the service. If everyone was constantly downloading heavy files all the time you would notice a distinct drop in download speed. Now that WOULD be worth moaning about. It is also worth pointing out that the 1Gb limit is daily - that equates to 200 4 minute music tracks. To find this a problem you would probably have to be a music/video pirate ie: breaking the law. If you need a service that provides more than this maybe you should consider getting out more, the exercise will do you good.

But isn`t it a *total* of 1gb a day, including all web pages you visit (and their annoying, b/w heavy flash animations?), mail traffic etc. I think that`s what people are most p***ed off about. Thank heaven for Pipex is all I can say!

actually dave I know a few of these power downloaders mate and you would besuprised that many of them probably spend less time at the PC screen then u do, mainly because their students who when not at school or college are out getting p***ed and trying to shag anything that moves.

They simply know the right places to surf to, then go click click click ten times, turn the monitor off, soddoff and when they return in the morning 5 gig has downloaded.

jammy bastards:P

Point taken - I don`t think broadband was conceived of when I was a student. Getting p***ed and shagging most certainly was.
