yep seen this a month ago, I was expecting Tom Cruise kicks Japans ass, was verysuprised by how good it was, infact Tom Cruise spens most of the film being owned by the samurai in one way or another.

It would be good if Jackson turns the meeting of Gandalf and Saruman into another wizard battle but I doubt it.

I have never read a full book in my life, and I never will.

But I do have all 3 books and constantly read the meaty parts and references, most books contain alot of gas tolkiens contain alot more.

I would expect the mouth of Sauron scene to make it in as it was filmed.

I also expect their to be some talk between feromir and Eowyn (they sort of fall in love, then later marry in the book) as the alliance of the young captains heads to the black gates (you get a wink of this during Aragorns crowning as they are standing next to each other)

also the gandalf vrs the WitchKing scene which was in the Teaser trailer should make it in, Gandalf and the Witchking have a past, Gandalf and Saruman chased him out of the lands north of Rivendale years ago.

i also wouldnt be suprised if you dont see both the black gate and Minas Tirith battles fattened out with even more action, I believe helms deep had more action put back in.

I would also expect to see a scene where eomer gets excepted by his men as the New King of Rohan like the book.

also compared to the book the battle of the Black gates was very basic, in the book the army of men circled 2 hills in front of the gates (one of them was the one frodo and sam where on in the two towers) and a line of men joins thses two circles.

then the orcs come charging down, yes some from the black gates but most come out of the mountain to the sides of the gates and surround the army of men.

It is then the orcs who charge.

Gandalf does not fight at all he stands like a beacon ontop of one of the defended hills and as SAuron is defeated he shouts "Stand Fast men of the west! The hour of doom is at hand!"

he then says after its all over "The realm of saurn has ended"

One of the thing I do Like about the movie is in the books the eagles actually talk to gandalf <----------Im sorry but this is too ghey for me and I am glad they left it out.

I also love the look on Gimli`s face as the eyes explodes!
Its kinda like "ooooooooooo yer beauty" :D

secondly the pirate corsairs are ambushed by aragorn and the army of the dead at peligir (check the middle earth maps)

The reason this wasnt put in was to give the movie a jack in the box in the nick of time suprise.

but seeing as most people who will buy the extended edition will have seen the movie then there is no need to suprise them is there?

but then has Jackson actually filmed the battle at peligir?

He had so many guises down the years, I would prefer to see him like Gandalf and saruman, if you read the similarians Sauron wasnt Created Evil, he was seduced by the first Dark Lord Malok (How Ghey).

There`s no doubt LOTR has a much better balance of practical and special effects than the prequels, but there would be no LOTR without the Star Wars Trilogy.

Lets get one thing straight sonny and I know your not dumb enough to believe Star Wars came before LOTR`s.

It is widely known that Tolkiens Work had an effect on Lucas, Secondly someone wether Star Wars Happened or not would have eventually brought LOTR`s to the screen.

I love this movie especially all those brain tingling details like what happens when a 30 foot elephant plows the road :D

The only disapointment for me apart from the saruman/mouth of sauron ommissions was how quick the movie moved from Minas Tirith to the Black Gate, hopefully in the EE xut it will show them infront of minas mogul then burning the fields and laying waste to the bridge.

Also it would be nice too see some cut scenes of Lorien and Mirk Wood under attack as they was.

overall so far

I would say its 2,3,1 for me but I think the EE version of ROTK will have so much more meaningful editions bringing it to the Top.

what I will say is from the moment the Black gates opened until the eagles picked up frodo and sam was probably the most memorable piece of interwoven cinema I have ever seen, everything was perfect.

God I love it when a movie gives me the Tingles, anyone else get em? 8)

You know my attitude to going to the cinema and I`ve gone on record about the gap in the market the Studios are leaving open for the pirates. I`m no fan of the way the Studios operate, but I don`t download for three reasons - sh*te quality, too many monkeys with infected or dummy files out there, and it`s illegal. I have better things to do with my bandwidth.

Still The Hobbit might be a reality, and I always wanted to see the follow up books to Star Wars turned into a movie, you have to admit Grand Admiral Thawn and Jorrus C`Both are great characters.
