Worst outdoor Christmas decorations

MAD Jazpa (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 11th December 2002, 19:44

Honestly there`s a house opposite us that is full of Xmas lights and they have a bright red "Merry Xmas" sign flashing all BLOODY night!

It`s like a brothel.......

Can you beat that?

Sheffield, Upperhorpe, they`ve been in the local paper with it. A great big f[at]nikc` 10 foot Santa and sleigh, all illuminated. If I were a kid it`d scare the hs[at]t outta me.

The houses near me have to be seen to be believed. There`s at least half a dozen covered with lights and other Christmas pap inside and out. If I can be bothered I might take a few pics and post the links; some of them are truely hideous! Their electricity bills must be huge!

Why is it that non-essential expenses (outside Xmas decorations, tattoos, ciggies, spending all day in the pub, big dogs etc) are indulged by people that can least afford them? Take their income support off them now! Especially when they complain about not being able to feed their "bairns".
Often they do this Xmas decorations thing for "charridee" by taking donations. Surely they`d raise more by not doing it in the first place and handing over the electric bill money.
Maybe they power them from the static electricity generated by their shell suits.

I think Issac Hunt has a point.

Only common people seem to go in for this sort of stuff.

Nice middle class people wouldn`t dream of doing such things.

Like most things to do with taste, it all boils down to `class`.

A road in west sussex - lit up their houses and raised £750 for charity last year. They`re doing it again this year - advertised it in the local paper - visiting times from 4pm to 10pm then Lights out.

By the way, what time does Santa deliver the pressies on the 25th?
Do you think the more lights you have on the easier it is for him to find your place/chimeny?

p.s. we gotta Litup Santa and Snowman, flashing rope lights and multi-coloured fairy lights. We live down a dead-end road without houses opposite us - why do we do it? for the kids ofcourse - that`s my excuse anyway.

p.p.s So what lights/decorations have you got then?
