I think I read somewhere that it could magically be unlocked on a certain date related to the death of Iwota.

So you could just wait...

...or use a NES emulator. :)

Even by Nintendo's standards, this is really weird. Plus, at £70 for cardboard, it's bloody expensive.

If it really is just cardboard, I can see loads of third party copies flooding ebay and amazon at 1/5th of the price.

Interesting... but expensive... but interesting.

For the £60-£70 (I can see it dropping a tenner hopefully to match the US prices) - but you don't just get 'some cardboard' for that - you also get a 'game' on a cartridge too.  Nintendo have also announced they will make replacement 'parts' available very cheaply - and release the templates free of charge for you to make your own - although the quality of the official ones looks very high.
When they announced they were making an announcement on Wednesday ('for kids and kids at heart'), nobody came close to predicting the next stupidly innovative Nintendo 'thing'.  Apparently all the things are a design triumph and some rather complex too.  The way the piano is assembled and makes use of the IR sensor in the joy con is amazing.
For families with 5 - 10 year old children who have a switch I think think will be amazing fun to assemble and play.
In true Nintendo style though, who knows where this mad innovation will lead?.. I predict it will be big - which will then result in a huge amount of third party shovelware.  I think lots of people don't even realise the Switch is the fastest selling console in US history.  And it hasn't even been out a year!
Interesting review here.

Crazy mad, but possibly genius... could be the start of something big.

So I've had a Switch for a couple of weeks now. Only have two games but that doesn't matter as I've only played one of them. Super Mario Odyssey.
What an extraordinary piece of software. Probably the best game I've ever played. Think I've played about 80% on the game so far. I got stuck so went to YouTube to find out how to get past the point I was stuck at. I ended up watching a walk through to the end. I don't feel disappointed having seen what's to come as I was enjoying the video. Not sure I can complete it anyway, the final chase looks very tough. My only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner.
When I do get as far as I am able, I think I'll be buying Zelda Breath of the Wild.

Know what you mean.
Not played it for months now, but have all 880 moons (and then 999) and all purple coins.  Now have a nice golden sail too.
The last few parts (Dark Side and Darker Side) are rather evil.
The game is so full of variety and makes you smile constantly.  Ideas that other games may make a whole game out of, this game sometimes just uses the once and moved onto something new and inventive.
Well worthy of all its 'Game of the Year' awards.
What is your other game?
Zelda is incredible too.  Very different to the other Zeldas and the biggest game world I've ever seen  by a huge margin.

You will lose weeks and months to it.  You will lose hours thinking you're going to do a shrine or two but just getting completely sidetracked with other things...
Enjoy...

I like that chart, especially as the missus and I loved Zelda games on the GC (GC ones and the N64 ones), and she loved Oblivion on the PC. However I wasn't sure if the PC would play Skyrim, and do it justice.

So, I asked her if she'd rather play Zelda, or Skyrim, she chose Skyrim, so we got a PS3, she then got into Fallout 3, and she was lucky enough to win a ps4, so she got fallout 4 for that.

I think if she had won a Switch, then Zelda would have kept her entertained :)

The other game that came with the console was Mario Rabbids. Not even tried it yet, Super Mario Odyssey is that good. Plus I don't want to have to restart a level if I change the cart. I also got a couple of digital games, Mario Bros (I think it's from the NES) & Rocket league. Also picked up Fifa 18 & Rayman (physical copies) as they were both on offer.
But until I finish the final battle I'm in no hurry to play the other games.
Had hoped someone might have an Easter sale. But when I'm ready for another absorbing title I will be buying Zelda Breath of the Wild game full price or not.

I'd say you've only really scratched the surface after beating Bowser and the game actually gets better (and tougher..).
