well I`m pleasantly surprised at the price point, although i will definitely be going for the full system rather than the stripped down "Core system". Now just tod ecide what game to buy alongside PGR3, and to find out how much extra controllers will be.

Erm.. just to make it clear, the Xbox 1.5, I mean 360, is not actually for sale yet... ;)

2 separate products is a BIG mistake.
You need a common platform - you won`t get any killer apps developed for the hard drive version because not everyone will buy it. It will be a big memory card and an mp3 player.

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

yup...i reckon so too...remember the travesty of megadrive addons?

besides, why break something that already works well (current xbox with hdd)?

marketing obviously haven`t done their homework....wonder how many ps2 owners
never bought the separate hdd?

........is that gasoline i smell?

According to the Beeb, its going to be 209 for the `vanilla` Core version and the 279 for the version with `20GB hard drive, wireless Ethernet controller, headset and remote control`.

But, obviously, these are going to be available seperately.

I know what they are aiming for, but I cant help thinking that is a bit of a mistake.

I know quite a few people who chose a PS2 over an XBox simply because it was a DVD player straight out the box (in the time when DVD players cost over 150 quid for a cheap one :o). Whereas the MS got all arsey and made it a payable add on.

I dunno..... I may well go for the core when it comes down and pick up the inevitable 3rd party add ons. I would assume it would work with my current network and it would be cool to set it up as a media center in my bedroom. Ive got a few wireless controllers for the xbox and they are a godsend, so I would probably pick these up too.

Im in two minds really. The prospect of it being a digital Hub is quite enticing. But I know the price will plummett as soon as the PS3 comes out......
