RGB Scart for Gamecube - does it make a difference?

dsm (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 15th October 2003, 08:46

I`m considering buying an RGB scart for my Gamecube. Reason being that the picture I get at the minute isn`t great.

I have a good Panasonic TV - but the picture is quite blurred when using the GC, even when sharpening it. The colours are hard to define too (red/black/blue are hard to distinguish).

Would the RGB lead make a difference?

Cheers,

Dave

Assuming your either using the standard AV cable or an RF lead or something like that the RGB would make a difference, much richer and sharper picture quality.
That been my experience anyways :)

Hi,

It`s very noticable on the star wars game.

With the composite leads supplied, a friend and I foudn the Tie Fights blended intop the stars too much, with a scart, they were quite definitely grey, and the stars were white rather, than various shades of grey/dirty white ;)

So I would def recommend an RGB scart lead

It makes a massive difference!

Especially on 60Hz games where you could see lines `moving` across large areas of solid colour.

Picture is as crisp and stable as you could wish for.

Other leads that say they`re RGB aren`t. Get the Official one!!!

Just make sure you get the official one, 3rd party Scarts for the Cube aren`t the best but the official Nintendo one, despite feeling very flimsy, is actually very good and you`ll notice the difference immediately. However for the ultimate connection and if your t.v./projector can handle it invest in the official component cable - I`ve got my Cube hooked up to a Panny AE300 projector and the image on a 115 inch screen is amazing...

Yes yes yes, if you have a good telly you will really notice the difference. Get the official one mind!! Blockbusters were doing them for £13, worth trying there!
