Page 1 of For probably the one millionth time.....XBOX or PS2?

I am looking to buy one of the two within the next few weeks, but need some advice.

I like footy games especially Pro Evolution Soccer, but as I understand this is not available on the XBOX, also I like racing games and enjoyed Colin McCrae and Gran Turismo on the PS1.

A friend of mine though has the XBOX, and he adores Halo etc. which he likes to link up to the surround system (I also have one).

HELP????? Please!

Sounds as though you`ve made up your mind really on PS2 but need reassuring. You like the games on it.
Don`t just get xbox because your mate`s got one and he likes it.

Well for Footy games on XBox u`ve got FIFA2003 which is smart as hell, not a lot else tho! However if you like racing games then the XBox is particularly good for that having by far the best version of Colin MacRae 3 and not to mention Project Gotham, Rallisport, Quantum Redshift, Burnout (and Burnout 2 on the way). Then of course u`ve got the Superlative Halo and others such as Splinter Cell etc. Ultimately though as SJ says it`s really about getting what you like the games on more than anything, in my case I preffer XBox though by a good distance nowadays.

Oh and the proper 5.1 sound you get on the XBox really does p*** all over the PS2`s! :)

I agree - The X-Box Capabilities far outshine that of the PS2 - esp if you wanna link it up to DD 5.1.

The number of games issue is one that all PS2 owners will chuck at you in their argument against the X-Box however there an absolute Cartload of Amazing games coming out this year such as Driver 3 (which will kick GTA3`s ass), Halo 2, Galleon etc.

If you like racing games Mercedes Benz World Racing is coming out soon and looks seriously hot. With regards to footy games FIfa 2003 is great but still need a bit of `edge` to it if your a serious footy gamer (unlike me although i still think its great)

Because its true, the PS2 has all the bases covered the xbox and GC still dont.

Secondly how do you know Driver 3 will stomp all over GTA3`s ass if it isnt released yet?

These games coming out on all machines arnt amazing, they should be amazing, I will give u an example.

Devil May Cry was without doubt one of the best and most involving games to be released on the PS2, DMC2 is graphically and technically superior but alot of people just dont like its new format and changes.

Driver 3 and Halo 2 could suffer the same problem, we hear all about not another tombraider, but on the flip side of the coin if you change something too much you still end up shooting yourself in the foot.

I see your point Ironduke but from the scenes i have seen of these games in X-Box Magazine for example, the forementioned games look absolutely fantastic.

I know gameplay and graphics are two different things but i really believe there are some excellent games coming out this year on X-Box.

You should pick XBOX because:

1. You have DD. The sound is outstanding especially on games like Ghost Recon.

2. Project Gotham Racing is the most enjoyable driving game I have ever played, and I don`t like driving games much.

3. XBox LIVE is great fun and can only get better with Halo 2

4. The graphics are better than PS2. Especially if word on the PS2 version of Splinter Cell is correct.

Get PS2 for:

1. PES2

2. See 1

PS2 has a wider selection of games, but most are crap.


I have both. XBox is much better IMHO

all xbox games look better then the PS2 games and most arnt.

another example for 2 years we PS2 gamers where fed gorgeous pics of THe Getaway.........

soprano you forgot to say the xbox has a small selection of games compared to the PS2 and most are crap anyway.

GTA3 VC
PES2&3/WE6&7
TOMBRAIDER

And from what the programmers have said about ps2 splinter cell its bigger then the xbox version and holds up very well indeed.
