Returning a faulty console

Bowf (Elite) posted this on Monday, 6th January 2003, 14:47

A mate has a gamecube that is ` temperamental `.
Sometimes it loads fine, sometimes it won`t load at all and the disc whirrs away. My friend`s worried the shop might insist on testing the machine before he gets another one, or a refund, but I doubt they will.
It`s the sort of fault that might take hours to show up.
What do you think his rights are ?
It`s only weeks old.

lol!!
Though we`d see a thread on returning a `faulty` console, but a GameCube?? Is this like Mr. Smith. Changed names to protect the innocent..
Some places may give a replacement and some won`t. You may get a nice new SEALED console. Don`t know, for example, Toys `r` Us policy though........

Coincidence only !
I promise !
I`ve got a PS2 Toys R us won`t take back. My mate`s got a dodgy Gamecube that is acting up.
And no...he won`t buy my unwanted PS2 off me...I tried....

I tell you something though...My missus spent over £100 in babys r us the other night. She`s taking the SEALED stuff back just to shove it the manager`s a**e....

if you`re only requesting a replacement, rather than a refund, there shouldn`t be as much of a problem as the other chappie had. Most shops are more comfy with replacing stock than giving out money. (as long as you`ve got a valid receipt, and the cube is less than 30-ish days old)

If its only weeks old you can exchange it under warranty, however, if you cant fint the receipt, then go to Argos, buy a new one, swap it for the old one & take it back to Argos & get a full refund as they have a 16 day money back guarantee :0)

Just make sure you pay via cash or debit card so you can get a refund as some places (like er GAME) wont do refunds to credit cards etc...Not that I er have any experience of having to resort to such measures! :)

Toys R Us test it first. And we cant take any consoles back unless there`s a) a fault and b) authorisation from head office.

As for taking stuff back to Toys R Us just to be petty then I wouldnt bother. If it`s sealed then we can resell it... no skin off our noses. And stuff like nappies and food are exempt from the return.

phone nintendo, the gamecube has a 3 year warranty, ask nintendo to send you something to show to the store, that should sort everthing out?
