RE: Can a laptop tft be modified to make a flat screen monitor for my PC?
When I said `chop up`, all I meant was remove the screen section from the base of the laptop. All I assumed that I would need to do is connect the data cable to a monitor lead, and obviously apply power, which I thought that I could use the laptop psu for.
Is there a diagram anywhere of pinouts etc???
I know that really I should just buy a tft monitor, but I like trying things like this, just to see if I can do it???
Can a laptop tft be modified to make a flat screen monitor for my PC?
Just wondering really, if it is possible to chop up a laptop screen, add a monitor lead, and PSU, so that it will run on my PC. Got access to all I need I think!
I would think that it is possible, but has anyone tried this, successfully or not?????
RE: Does anyone here work for Sky??? Question needs answering
Cheers M8! do you know if the pout method works? If I try to order a new card, will it go to the guy who originally owned the box?
Does anyone here work for Sky??? Question needs answering
I recently moved to a property with a minidish installed from the previous owner. So I bought a second hand box, and card, so that I could use it for freeview. I picked up most channels, apart from 3, 4, and 5.
I was told to call Sky, and that they could enable the card for these channels.
Anyways, I called Sky, and first off the bird on the phone told me that the card number never ever ever starts with a `0`. I eventually got her to punch in the number (which obviously was legit!), and she told me that my only option was to sign up for a years subscription, and to get a new installation with a new box etc. She also said that my current box would now be useless, and that I cannot use it any longer even for freeview.
Is this all a load of Bull or what?
Anyone know how I can get 3, 4, 5??????
Cheers in advance!!!
RE: Any recommends on a mini DV camcorder (that does digital stills also) for around £300?
Looks like it might do the job mate; I only want it for family occasions etc, I`m not going to be the next Spielberg!
As long as it does stills as well, I can ditch my current digicam.
RE: Any recommends on a mini DV camcorder (that does digital stills also) for around £300?
Have found one for £350 on pixmania; the Canon MV730i; got 5 stars in digital camcorder buyer, so I am assuming that its prety good!
Any recommends on a mini DV camcorder (that does digital stills also) for around £300?
Looking for one that will also do reasonable quality digital stills, with a memory card slot. DV in is not essential, as I have a DVD burner

RE: Optical or coaxial; any recommendations??? Also speaker cable!!!
Cheers for all the recommendations guys; I think I am pretty sorted, but just another quick one; subwoofer cable, should I bother, or will standard speaker wire do?
Optical or coaxial; any recommendations??? Also speaker cable!!!
Just ordered this little puppy:
http://www.unbeatable.co.uk/CatalogueItem_13494.html
and was looking for some advice on an interconnect for it. Was considering this beast from amazon:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00009MGDU/ref=sr_aps_electronics_1_1/026-2793141-3904407?tag=myrev09-21
Am I doing the right thing; or will I get something better for that price?
What about speaker cable? The system has not cost a massive amount, so I dont want to spend too much, but I dont want any old crap!
Cheers in advance for any help

RE: terminator 3 DTS £11.99 region 3

Is there a way to rip sound bites from dvds?
I would just like to rip a couple of sound bites from movies to convert to wav files to use for PC themes etc.
Will I need to rip the entire soundtrack, and then cut the bits out, or can just certain parts be extracted?
Which credit cards do not charge for currency exchange?????
When buying dvds, I usually use dvdpricecheck. Sometimes buying from abroad can be a couple of quid cheaper, but then when I get my bill, Barclaycard seem to have slapped on a couple of quid anyway. There is no mention of a charge, but I always use XE.com to check the exchange rates, and the 2 never tally.
Do all credit card companies do this??????
RE: For Sale: Gamecube + 5.4" mobile monitor + games + portable `in car` dvd player fs/ft
My email addy would be a good idea:

For Sale: Gamecube + 5.4" mobile monitor + games + portable `in car` dvd player fs/ft
Black Nintendo Gamecube with 1 control pad
Purple 5.4" tft monitor

This is supplied with a 12V lead that connects to a cigarrette lighter, allowing it to be used in car. Also a standard GC PSU.

Looking for offers, or will consider most trades

How do I get my name as an URL???
Go gently - I am new to this. I have just created a web site with front page, and have 50 MB of webspace with Pipex that I can upload it to. The address that I have is some crazy one, and I would like to change it to my name.
How do I do this?
