Waiting , was it thumbs up or down?
24th feb
I rescind my earlier knee-jerk judgement.
Very often a trailer is released that's 3.5-4 minutes long, full of snappy dialogue and hard cuts to a rock soundtrack, and the criticism is (sometimes fairly) leveled at the trailer that it gives away the whole plot. The trailer at the top of this page really isn't one of those trailers.
The trailers give the impression this could be a 'weekend at Bernies'-style romp with a ghost and internet-related shenanigans to turn a profit, but it really isn't. I sat down and watched it and after half an hour or so, I realised the main crux of the 'assumed plot from preview' was more or less done, and I thought 'huh? So.. what's left?
What's left is Ernest's quest to find out what happened to him and why, and it's at this point the hijink cease and it becomes a different movie altogether. I was a little put off in the trailer by David's mute-ness, but it helps his character, and the mystery surrounding his shuffling off the mortal coil that makes the resolution so much more than it woudl have been if they'd just played for laughs.
Yes, would recommend. Brooky, have some kleenex handy
