I kid you not! TVShowsonDVD is reporting Warner Home Video has plans for a box set of the series in hand.
Somebody get Satan a parka, he's turning blue. And watch out for low flying bacon.
I never thought this would happen. I always thought there was more chance of George Lucas putting out the 1977 edit on Blu-ray. Cats and dogs living together... Mass Hysteria!!!

Maybe now Lucas doesn't have control over Star Wars, we might even see an original edit. :)
But this is good news, I just hope they don't overprice it like they have the original Star Trek series. I want that, but not for anywhere near the price it sells for atm.

Exciting news. Will they release in one big box do you think or eke it out over several? I hope they re-master from the 35mm film negs. That would actually make it worth the very long wait! I watched the Blu-Ray upgrade of the '66 movie a week or so ago which I thoroughly enjoyed though wasn't massively impressed with the transfer. Maybe they'll re-master that properly too? It must be in the air at the moment as there's a 'Batman '66' comic book doing the rounds and tons of Adam West related action figures suddenly available.

Apparently they're going back to the negs for a full gamut 4K scan of the material. It's beginning to look like the Dozier Estate was the sticking point as Fox and Warner have worked out the financial side fairly quickly. I don't know about remastering the movie, as that's wholly Fox's baby and was never affected by the rights dispute.
The groundwork for the release started about eighteen months ago when licensing deals were struck for the 1966 series - hence the figures coming out.
Long time no see, Stuart. How's tricks?
