Ghostbusters 3 rumours

Seems there may be no Murray, and whilst I like the premise of passing the torch to a new generation, we all know they`ll suck in comparison to Ego, Ray, Winston and Pete. If anything it smacks of a typical reboot attempt to kickstart a franchise of sequels. :/

It`s high time somebody decided Bill Murray`s involvement in GB3 was the deal-clincher.  The concept of Ghostbusters should be the star, not the prat wearing the proton-pack.  I like the idea of the daughters taking over the business that surfaced a while ago.

Personally I`d like to see Ghostbusters turned into a modern-day version of the old "haunted house/ monster" comedies of the 1940s - stuff like The Cat and the Canary, Ghost Breakers, Arsenic and Old Lace, Scared Stiff, the Abbott and Costello Meet... pictures.  Whimsical while still being magnificently creepy.

I`ll only be satisfied that a film`s in production when I see the trailer. Speculation`s been rife about a part 3 since 1990, with plotlines ranging from Murray dying in the opening scene and ending up as the ghost that needs busting, to going back the very original Ackroyd idea - ghostbusting in space

I wouldn`t hold my breath until the theatrical trails started showing up on television.  So many movies spend decades in "development hell" - and you usually only hear about the big profile titles.  GB3`s been there (like Pete says) since at least 1990.  Murray`s always been the sticking point.

Which is odd, given that some of his recent roles haven`t exactly been a challenge

Not good news:

Quote:
The issues with funding have reportedly forced director Ivan Reitman to push back the production of the iconic horror spoof franchise’s third instalment until next autumn at the earliest.
And no Bill Murray. :/

Seth Rogen, Jack Black and Charlie Sheen are tipped to replace Murray in the film as the character of Peter Venkman.
If it ever does get made and if they go with Jack Black then I`ll burn my eyes out with a hot poker before I go to see it

Seconded. Charlie Sheen would make a good Venkman2.0, but Rogen`s strictly a Stantz-in.

It would been much better to keep the old cast for a 3rd and then maybe introduce a new younger team in that film for future ones. I would love to see a new version but as everyone else has said it would not be the same without Murray

Regards,

The Jackal
