Takeshi Kitano`s "Kikujiro" on DVD
I think I`ve spelt it right! :)
My wife and I caught the last hour of this on BBC4 the other night, and really enjoyed it. We`re both Kitano fans anyway, after Battle Royale and Zatoichi completely blew us away. Anyway, I`ve since tried to track it down on DVD only to find very limited availability, and some very cheeky prices, for a region 2 copy. I did come across a region 3 version on DDDHouse for pennies, but it stated that it was 1.33:1, and not the (alleged) correct ratio of 1.85:1. However, on another site I found a review of this disc where it was stated that the R3 DVD was actually the correct format and in 1.85:1 and not 1.33:1. I also found another forum where someone said the R3 version was excellent.
Is there anyone on this site that has this movie on R3 DVD and can confirm what format the picture is in? Is it W/S or is it a "soft-matte" picture, like the current release of The Jerk? Any help much appreciated.

I don`t know about the dvd release but if you wanted to watch it from the beginning then it`s showing again on BBC4 on Friday night (Saturday morning) starting at 00:30

The Korean R3 is 1.78:1, I assume the HK R3 is 4:3.

The Korean R3 ( released by Enter One ) which was reviewed by DVDBeaver appears to be out of print as I cannot find any sign of it at YesAsia etc.

There`s a copy at dvdfromkorea.com, advertised as a re-release, 1.85 anamorphic.
Cheers Arf.
Are they reliable as I have never used them?

I`d give dvdfromkorea a big thumbs up for service - I once had to return a disk (my mistake) and they refunded in full before they`d even got it back. Even asked me what the return postage was, took my word for it, and refunded that too the day I posted the disk back.
I usually get things about a week after order. My only gripe (and it`s not their fault) is that default delivery is by registered post in a box way too big for my letterbox, I`m usually out when postie turns up, and my sorting office is in the back end of nowhere. :/
Thanks a lot guys. I knew you`d know something about it on this site. It`s always my first port of call with bizarre questions!
Cheers Arf. Ordered Kikujiro and Hana & Alice L.E. from them this afternoon.
