I would like to know from someone who has bought the new R2-DVD of "The Muppet Christmas Carol" if the song "The Love Is Gone" (the song sung by Scrooge`s fiancee to Scrooge) is included or not??

well the box says 4:3. and if i get around to actually watching it (all in the interests of research you understand) i`ll look out for the song!

Hi,
Well spotted. Had the VHS version with the song and found I was winding it fast forward all the time over it. The DVD producers must have done their research. Extras a lot better anyway.

Thats a shame I thoght the song was really nice and very poignant. Showed what Scrooge had thrown away, very sad but lovely song. Well I think so. Best Mark. PS I hope its in the R1 release and i`ll get that instead.

Yes, this song is in the R1 version which I own and I am amazed it isn`t in the R2 version because I own the original UK vhs and it is included there. Brian Henson had to cut the song from the Theatrical release for time reasons but returned it for the home video release. I am glad he did because I like it too! However, I am very irritated that it has been released only in 4:3 format in both regions as all these years I have been waiting for the proper theatrical release format of this work in widescreen and now they have finally released it they sadly chose tv format. Why do they still insist on doing this?!

The song is on the R1 disc. One of extras covers the reason for its delition and you see Michael Caine and the young lady recording it. As for the 4:3 ratio - you need to try `muppetcentral` and see how much they hate disney for putting both `Treasure Island` and `Chrismas Carol` out in pan`n`scan.
