Router probs?

A couple of months ago I purchased a Belkin ADSL router/modem and LAN card from Ebuyer. I have had problems connecting from day one but thought it was down to incorrect setup coupled with my lack of knowledge.

A couple of months on, problem has got gradually worse, till I am now at the stage of being unable to connect from a web page. What would happen originally was, I would need to access the router web home page, then connect and disconnect a few times till I could open a web page or send/receive using Outlook. The number of time I needed to do this has steadily increased, until it got to the stage where it was impossible to connect at all.

Long conversations with Belkin tech support and much changing of settings eventually got us to the stage that the ISP server (UK Online) was not recognising a named address but would connect using an IP address. So of course it then became the ISP's fault.

UK Online checked out the server and exchange - all ok. Suggested I try the USB modem originally supplied by them and guess what - I now have no problems connecting.

Downside is, her indoors can't use her new laptop to access internet as she has become used to over the last two months!

Sorry for all the preamble, my question is: where would your bets go as to where the fault is? I think router but don't want to go through all the rigmarole of Ebuyers RMA procedure to find they think its ok. Could the card be causing problems?

Ta muchly

Travelling to Woolwich - help and info please

My partner`s Mum has just passed away and is to be buried, as per her wishes, next to her husband in Woolwich New Cemetary. We will be travelling by train next Tuesday from the wilds of Herefordshire and any help on routes would be much appreciated. Timetable suggests Paddington, then Tube to London Bridge, then Train to Plumstead.
Is this the best route?

I chose Plumsted Station, cos on the map it seemed nearest - is there a better option?

Also, after the burial, in case any distant rels appear, any suggestions for a local pub within easy walking distance, that might do a cuppa or sandwich type thing.
Ta very much

Help with router/network problem - Please!

Two days ago I installed a Belkin ADSL router/modem, hardwired PCI card in PC, wifeys laptop working like a dream, every thing fine.

Then yesterday when I booted up PC, windows did not load properly, hung with a black/blank screen, I had to restart, got dos message etc, loaded ok.
Then I noticed clicking on quick launch ie button for new window gave a new window but did not load - got the "web page could not be found" message. Clicking on Go in address bar loaded page.

Now, every page I try to access from a favourite, a link or a hot link gives me the "web page could not be found" message. Mostly, clicking on "Go" loads the page but sometimes it needs repeated clicking to force the page to load.

Also, Outlook express cannot send or recieve, error message says it cant find server.

Everything was fine for a couple of days, so I`m guessing something untoward happend during the boot up crash but what came first, crash or prob?

I am running Spybot, AdAware, Kerio, AV Guard etc, I have tried disabling all these with no effect.

Belkin guy was no help, as the connection is there, thats as far as his interest goes.

Intersting thing is, wireless connected laptop is also having the same problem.

Thank for any help,
Ta
Nick.

RE: Tomato Ketchup in the fridge

LOL
Nice one Sir!

Now, after years of verbal chastisement by my father for covering everything in tomato sauce (MUST be Heinz) I stand proudly vindicated that I was in fact, following the correct course of action and ingesting huge amounts of lycopenes!

RE: Boundary fence.

Slightly on a tangent, we have a garage which has one of the sides "in" a neighbours back garden. The wall of the garage must surely be our property but what rights have we to control what he does in his garden? I am thinking along the lines of him backing stuff up above the level of the damp course.

Bought DK & GC for my daughters next birthday - is it possible to play DK in a two player mode?

S`pose what I really need to know is, would it be a waste of money to buy an extra controller?

HELP! www.search-daily.com

Just had loads of toolbars, pop-ups etc appear. I have managed to get rid of most stuff but IE homepage keeps re-setting to www.search-daily.com. Any ideas?

I am running :
Anitvir Guard
Spybot
Kerio

Anitvir Guard deleted Delf.CB.1

Spybot got rid of loads of stuff but every time I run it, it keeps coming up with CoolWWWSearch.Yexe

System restore is off, Temp file emptied.
