for those in the 50" TV market...

That Sagem Axium 50 I`m always talking about...

The DLP one (42%er will provide the link to the real manufacturer, Sagem is a 3rd party branding jobbie)...
A few months back it WAS £2999.00, then £2799.00 and I though brilliant last month at £2499.

Comet have now decided to make it....

wait for it....

£1999.00!
Yup, now UNDER 2 grand for a 50" TV capable of High Def viewing, capable of Progressive scan, twin tuner PIP, capable of being used as a PC monitor, and so on!
This thing can take NINE SEPERATE simultaneous inputs!

Yes, there is better now on the market from DLP (Darkchip technology etc.), but these are still in the £3K+ area

They`re out of stock til the 18th, so was told the earliest delivery date will be around the 25th, but damn...was I tempted?!?!?

Make sure they let you see it`s capabilities with the Hi Def hard drive they have linked, cause it`s astounding!

PS: DLP don`t screen burn, so don`t panic about games playing etc.

Well just been to the Comet store in Torquay (the willows)... the set looks really good, but unfortunatley the picture quality (on ths one at least) is shockingly bad...

I spoke to the young spikey haired assistant... who just muttered its set up correctly, and walked off!

Probably though because i was in my trackie and baseball cap that i was wasting his time...

So will have to find somewhere that is conerned with offering good customer service to buy one...

Nevermind, its comets loss... i must admit whilst the prices are usually keener, most independants will price match and the after sales is far superior.

I`m surprised the pic quality in the show was bad, unless it was`t their usual promo dvd, which is what I saw a few weeks back. The Picture quality was amazing. Mind you, when I asked if they could show a TV channel or sky they couldn`t as it was set up only to show the Sagem demo dvd.

I also wonder what the the picture quality will be like where I live and the signal isn`t that fantastic.

it was their instore comet advertisemt, as was on all the sets,

however it was the worst looking on this particular one... my gues is it wasnt set up correctly?

Most (apologies to those on dvd reviewer who work at comet or similar) of the assistants are not specialists, they literally only know what is written on the ticket in front of the item, or from the back of the box (that is if they can read?).

I am sure that when i spend £2K on a tv i will be going to a specialist, with after sales...

Just a shame the only one recommended on reviewer is in Leicester! A bit far for hime to come and tune it in...

DLP projection TVs produce fantastic pictures when they are set up correctly with a good DVD input but they show every defect perfectly with a poor quality input. The Comet instore ad, which I think is piped via the RF input, is probably the last thing to use to show off the picture quality. I have just purchased the LG RE-44SZ21RD 44" DLP television and it produces superb quality pictures with DVD when correctly set up. The THX opitimode video test adjustments provided on some DVDs provide the best method to check this. This set is available from Unbeatable for £1200.

i think i saw the sagem in john lewis today for £2000. picture quality from channel 4 was useless though (not that i doubt it`s reported quality) and it was too busy to get a dvd demo.

guess the price point is across the country. i`m umming and ahhhing over getting a new stop-gap crt - is it worth saving the pennys for another 6 months or so? the thought of hi-def capability on the sagem is very tempting :p

Hello there,I saw the Sagem TV in Comet and it shone out from across the store. The sharpness was beautiful.I have a couple of questions though...about High Definition.I presume it requires a special signal? How many Tv programmes are produced with the ability to use the HD feature?
Are console games set up to use this? Do you need special DVD versions to use the advantage or will it be noticeable on all DVd`s if played on a good player?

Thanks in advance from Pete
