Hoofing it up to Crouch and hoping he`ll do something with it.

agreed. there was no short passing in the final 3rd. i know modric was missing but it shouldn`t mean spurs should just swing any old cross in and hope crouch does something. thought defoe, lennon and jenas went missing after scholes got sent off.

man utd just seemed to find so much space between our midfield and defence.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR thread season 2009/2010

james is a clown - he still makes massive howlers but they aren`t highlighted because
he`s at portsmouth.

don`t want him anywhere near spurs.

I can`t see Harry buying back and selling Chimbonda within such a short space of time, can you?

at pompey he bought in the likes of nugent and ben sahar and never used them. i think chimbonda was a short term buy as we were short of cover + by all accounts it had something to do with sunderland`s lack of payments.

1) Are the losses of Barry and Laursen so big that replacing them is difficult

to aston villa it is. whilst keane and berbatov didn`t make great waves at their new clubs, they left a massive hole at spurs. i can see villa struggling like spurs did last season.

4) Could it be that other managers have "worked out" what O`Neill does with his teams and have worked out how to counter it?

it started to become clear that if you stop ashley young, you stop aston villa.

o`neill is too concerned with buying players that will run through brick walls for him rather than just buying straighforward decent players.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR thread season 2009/2010

it might be an interesting few days when it comes to outgoings - everton getting a cash injection + others signing players before they get cup tied on wednesday. hutton, chimbonda, jenas and bentley look like the obvious ones up for sale.

i saw a report the other day that an english club was looking at the dario srna - his agent dropped a hint about a team `currently looking to sell a right winger". sounds like it could be bentley.

spurs themselves look short at cover on the left side and for palacios.

RE: Setting up `My Documents` in Vista

Thanks for the advice MilesR :)

I guess I`ll move all the child folders but leave anything `hidden` alone + redirect any paths used for saving.

When I was reading about this before, there was mention of using mklink/symbolic links as older apps may have problems installing - but looking again, this might only be a problem if you try and move the parent "C:\Users(username)" folder

2nd post : http://www.vistax64.com/vista-file-management/49443-duplicate-documents-folder-inside-home-folder.html

Does that advice only apply to the `admin` account or does it need to be applied to every user account?

First question...why do you want to move the documents to a separate `partition`?

I just want to keep documents and other stuff separate from the OS, incase of failure + easier to backup/ format/ defrag a smaller partition (allegedly). I backup stuff to a external HDD rather than having a second internal one.

Moving `My Documents` was straightforward in XP but from what I`ve read it`s a little different in Vista. I don`t know if they changed/reverted back to anything for Windows 7. I want to set everything up right so that apps can find my documents/photos etc and don`t start creating folders in strange places when they install or can`t find something.

Setting up `My Documents` in Vista

I`m trying to set up the a new PC (Vista) and would like to move the various `My Documents` folders to a separate partition. Seeing as people on here regularly do fresh installs, I was wondering how people went about it?

Basically I want to make sure that backing up user data is easy and installing new apps won`t end up creating user related folders in the wrong places. At the moment, this is a fresh install with only Office and a few general apps - no important documents/photos etc

I`ve created 2 accounts - admin (for changing the system but won`t be used for anything else). The other one is the family login (day to day use). I guess I won`t need to touch the admin user folders.

Which `family` folders should I move and which should I leave alone? Do I really need to update the `family` user folder with the `mklink` command?

Thanks for the help.

RE: Eto and Ibrahimovich deal goes through

the headline figure does seem crazy but in some of the reports i read it made a bit more sense.

only man city were prepared to pay £25m for eto`o - everyone else in europe was scared off by the thought of paying a fee + his wage demands. barca felt the only way of getting any money for him was to lower the transfer fee and hope the extra cash could help a new club pay his massive wages. so the headline fee is more like £38m + eto`o (worth £10m or less) - hleb is on loan with a view to buy.

£48m although silly is not an insane 75m euros.

i don`t think inter will be p*ssing themselves - ibrahimovic was pretty much a one man team, he`d get them wins when inter performed poorly. maybe they`ll move for aguero but they already have diego millito.

it`ll be interesting. barca have lost eto`os aggression but will have gained ibrahimovic`s ability to score special goals out of nothing - vice versa for inter.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR thread season 2009/2010

taken from fcbarcelona.com

barcelona squad for wembley cup:

The 28 players travelling to London include 17 from the senior squad (Valdés, Pinto, Jorquera, Martín Cáceres, Víctor Sánchez, Henrique, Maxwell, Márquez, Abidal, Keita, Touré, Gudjohnsen, Hleb, Bojan, Henry, Messi and Pedro)

plus 11 from the reserve and youth squads (Oriol, Dalmau, Montoya, Fontàs, Muniesa, Espasandín, Rueda, Santos, Jeffren, Rochina and Gai).

p.s. messi had been given time off until the 27th but decided to come back early.

RE: Man City and the favourite for first manager to be sacked (at a guess)

i reckon there are a few other names ahead of hughes in the sack race.

my guess is phil brown will come first in the sack race - he talks too much and i can see a continuation of last seasons form.

maybe a technicality, but if the pompey takeover goes through, they`ll be after a new manager - did hart get the job permanently?

mcleish at birmingham seems to have an uneasy relationship with his board. they`ll sack him if they have a poor start.

RE: Fergie spoke to Tevez twice in two years....

i think i`d probably side more with tevez - with the man utd fans loving tevez, ferguson has to look like he made some sort of effort. the writing was on the wall when they signed berbatov for £30m.

i`m glad for tevez. i`m sure the wages help - but i believe him him when he says his family are settled in manchester and that he needs first team football. a place on the bench won`t do him any favours, for the national team, against the likes of higuain, millito, aguero and messi etc

FFS I read that as well. What are they/Harry thinking of?

i can see what harry is doing but i`m not sure i agree with his choice of players. i guess he`s trying to put some leadership/experience in the dressing room + someone that youth players can look to. last season, you could see redknapp was fed up with losing away games because of the lack of a strong mentality.

we`ve been linked with figo, vieira, beckham, van nistelrooy because they`ve all been top players and winners. to be honest, i can see a scenario where bentley is sold on and beckham is brought in.

but would harry be crazy enough to try and bring back judas? :p

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR thread season 2009/2010

anyone going to the wembley cup games? do you reckon it`s worth bothering with the £29 tickets or will it be like watching the game from space?

RE: Summer 2009 transfer rumour thread

KAKA signed for Real, £56 million ....seemingly the Man City original bid was the catalyst which lead Real to bidding....funny old game

it`s good to see real madrid going for it. i hope germany, spain + italy can sort out their managers and signings. i`m getting tired of seeing the same old premiership players in the champions league semis every year.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR thread season 2009/2010

looking at the signings in january and the players linked now (barry, rvn, johnson) it looks like harry wants players he knows can do it in the premier league. i guess the comolli days of little known foreigners are truly over - a bit of a shame, no more berbatovs and modrics? no more rochas + boatengs though.

it`ll be interesting to see if harry spends big on a left winger - it might mean modric being moved into the middle.

the out list is pretty straightforward - bent, giovani, boateng, pavlyuchenko, zokora. - harry has made it pretty obvious he doesn`t rate them. hutton, bentley and jenas will probably go if better replacements are found.

RE: bugger. . . . (CL footy spoiler)

last nights game was a lot like the man utd semi last year - an early spectacular goal allowed chelsea to stick to their gameplan. even as a fan of barcelona, i`m not sure the `better` team went through. for all their possession, cech didn`t make a save. however, it was great to see iniesta score - the outstanding player over the two legs. bottom line is, chelsea should have put away their countless chances.

i`m guessing the final will follow the same pattern, man utd sit back/deny barcelona space around the box and try and hit them on the break. barcelona will have to figure out a new plan `cos it hasn`t worked over two seasons.

RE: The Official Celtic Season 08/09 Thread

how has that kid you bought from barcelona (crosas?) done this season? just wondering as barca have let go a few midfielders that have gone on to do well.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

Quote:
How does that work?? I mean you have Aaron Lennon and surely Beckham is an OAP version of Bentley who HR doesnt fancy??

beckham in the centre running around like a headless chicken and eventually dumping a ball into the box from spurs` own half. oh and diving anywhere near his free kick range.

RE: Summer 2009 transfer rumour thread

rumours/talk i`ve come across:

barcelona want to sell henry (man city?) to fund a move for ribery. eto`o may also be available `cos they don`t think he will sign a new contract (man city/chelsea/inter)

ronaldinho to man city.

real madrid want villa and silva - more likely than ronaldo i guess - probably means van nistelrooy is for sale.

diego (werder) to juve which means they won`t have much else to spend.

glen johnson to spurs. muntari to spurs (giovani/jenas/bentley to inter?). bent to everton.

i guess villa will have to replace barry.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

from fcbarcelona.com:

"Barça will begin their preparations for the 2009-2010 season with a trip to London and a prestigious encounter against Tottenham at Wembley...Pep Guardiola's team's first opponent will be Tottenham Hotspur, who they will play on July 24."

Celtic and Al-Ahly are the other teams involved.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

good win vs newcastle. i thought palacios was awesome in midfield and that spurs played some really good stuff at times. a bit disappointing that we couldn`t get more goals (a blackburn style collapse is always a possibility at 1-0). good to see hutton back.

motd2 was a stitch up though - not a bad word to say about newcastle (shearer), even after their 1st half performance. as much as i`d like to see them relegated, it won`t happen - unless hull sort themselves out but they probably won`t.

i`m pretty sure 7th is the end of the european places - i think it`ll be between spurs and fulham.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

Quote:
Equally, I can see all those players still being at the club next season. Pav is still a relatively new signing, Zokora is a useful player and Gomes has turned out to be a very useful keeper indeed.

i agree but you just get the impression that harry isn`t 100% behind them. if the money is right and the replacement is in place, then those players might be on the move. if glen johnson doesn`t end up at liverpool, there will probably be a load of stories linking him to spurs - even with corluka and hutton at the club.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

i reckon bent is definitely on his way out. jenas maybe too - rumours of scott brown seem to have followed harry from portsmouth.

i would think gomes, pavlyuchenko and zokora may find themselves at new clubs, if redknapp decides he can get better (value) in their positions.

RE: PFA Player`s Player of the year awards nominations

i think they discussed the pfa voting on talksport a while back. an ex player said that, back in the day, they handed out the voting forms and no-one cared. they may have filled the spares in themselves.

i thought the voting was december to december - maybe that explains ronaldo.

da silva? has he even played that much. i guess the young players one will go to ashley young or ireland.

surely the likes of hangeland or danny murphy should be in the main list?

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

Spurs vs West Ham @ WHL 11/04/09

Tottenham: Gomes, Corluka, Woodgate, King, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Huddlestone, Jenas, Modric, Bent, Keane.

Subs: Cudicini, Bale, Zokora, Bentley, Pavlyuchenko, Dawson, Chimbonda.

tempting fate but i reckon it could be easy win.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

hutton didn`t play or make the bench. corluka is doing well, so i guess hutton will have to wait a bit longer - as bentley is finding out.

should have put the game to bed but looking back, robinson didn`t have to make many saves. blackburn were rubbish for 80mins though - the `stoke in disguise` tactics didn`t do them any favours. their survival prospects looked a lot better when they strung a few passes together.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

anyone watching the blackburn vs spurs match?

unsurprisingly there are a lot of long balls but spurs are doing well when they manage to get the ball down and play in modric and keane. i suspect blackburn will turn the second half into a real battle after feeling aggrieved by the penalty decision.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

fair enough. i thought the accounting would be more complicated as the defoe deal involved writing off amounts from mendes/kaboul transfers. plus, levy does like an add-on clause in his transfers.

RE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR Season 08/09 thread

Quote:
can`t remember who else!

defoe. i suppose things may get complicated in writing off money from various deals. i guess the full amounts didn`t change hands in any of our `try before you buy` transfers.

Haven`t you already got Hutton (nearly fit again??), Gunter and also Corluka who can play there aswell when needed.

hutton isn`t back until april (plus there are other rumours about his long term future). corluka is probably needed as cover for the centre and gunter is still learning (barely played for cardiff before a £3m move to us).

a player did cover his face (i thought it was scholes?) and block the ball but most refs wouldn`t give that sort of decision.
