I bought this player today thinking it was dvd region free, mine isn`t, won`t play my R1 or R4 DVD`s.
How do you go about this region hack business? Just press some random numbers? I`m not technically minded I always hope someone has been here before like in the past, never had a hack fail yet (7 machines so far) thanks to you whizz kids!
Not too bothered about the BluRay part as I have yet to buy any BluRay discs! But it would be nice to see my baseball stuff upscaled a bit!
C`mon guys find me a region hack please!

Yes I had that issue with my drives, and have one set to R1 and the other R2!
As for the other nonsense with the regions I do remember now that it was something to do with the movies still being shown etc.
As for all the techno stuff I`m going to take a lie down in a darkened room cos my brain hurts!
Whenever and whatever I buy in the future and need a region hack I`ll just come on here and ask someon!

I certainly have moved to the right, from being a Militant, Commie left winger for most of my life I have found myself on two occasions now voting for the BNP! 20/30 years ago I was getting arrested for going on marches against the facist right wing, got myself banned from France for a few years for being a TU agitator (Foreign)!
My views now in many ways are quite Draconian, mainly on law and order issues, I am very anti police, I think that most are a waste of space and lack any real common sense and are not worthy of my respect, to my mind they have more in common with the thuggery that they are suupposed to be protecting us from! Justice and the law in this country are similar to distant cousins that haven`t spoken for many years, justice to me lies in my own hands, you mess with me and I`ll mess you with you ten fold! Plus the `Ole Bill` have their hands tied behind their backs as do us parents, thankfully mine are grown and have children of their own. And guess what? They are bringing up their kids much the same way us I brought them up. Not overly strict, but then they knew the difference between right and wrong from the start, they knew their boundaries unlike some of the brats that we see everyday runninig riot on our streets. My day you got a clout round the ear from the local copper and lived in fear for a fortnight at least, in case he met your parents in the pub one night.
Although I have voted BNP in a local and Euro election, mainly because they were the only party that said they would bring order to our streets, to make them safe for us old `uns not to feel scared everytime we go out doors, nothing on this earth would ever allow me to vote Tory, that Thatcher woman, to me, is evil personified, and if someone had given me a gun in 1984 I would have shot her!
So in conclusion I have moved to the right but am still an old Socialist (a dirty word to this New Labour mob, and Liberals are nowt but lukewarm Tories) at heart.

Just a question for all you good people that find/discover/whatever region hacks for those of us less gifted.
How the hell do you do it?
Do you just punch a few buttons at random and hope for a result?
Is there something more techno or even, dare I say, geeky/nerdy about it?
In short, how the hell do you do it?
For instance my Silvercrest DVD has the hack 136900?
Who on earth came up with that?
Never in a million years would I have come up with that, are they somebodies lottery numbers or something?
For instance there is one hack where you go into the players set up menu, press chapter forward and back a couple of times, dance naked around your back garden and hey presto!
A region free DVD Player/Recorder!
I made up the bit about the dancing naked!
How do you do it?
Personally I haven`t a clue how, but am eternally grateful to those who do, the only player I`ve had that I haven`t managed a hack on packed up before I had chance to hack it, a Maplins Nikkai thingy!

RE: So my faith in the justice sytem has gone up the swanny.
Justice and the legal system in this country are like two very distant cousins who haven`t spoken to each other in years. Similar to most replies, in fact all of them, I agree 100%, Justice Hawksworth wants to get his head out of his backside and give this swine the sentence befitting the crime, what was it the senile old bludger said, `no criminal intent`? He`s on the pavement for god`s sake, criminal intent or not!
Personally I have had no faith in our mockery of a justice system for a good few years and similarly to another writer on here, the cop programmes make me so angry when the presenter says `no charges were brought because of a lack of evidence.`!
I am a good few years older than most that write on these forums, but I have found as I have gotten older my views on justice have become almost Nazi like,at odds with my mainly Commie views on most things. Just look at most of these scum that inhabit our streets and you will possibly find that they are second or third generation scum! Therefore, steralise the scum before they have time to perpetuate the species and within a generation or two no more scum! (If Only)
My last fracas with the so called law was only 6 years ago. I was arrested by a 17 year old, and charged with harrasment and some other mouthful of crap for interferring with a drug dealers trade! I admit to harrassing the hell out of him and chasing away his customers, who were mainly 13/14 years old kids and not just blow, but smack, crack, coke and even heroin! I was remanded on bail for 6 months, my computer was also `arrested` as this scum had told the `ole bill` it was full of child porn.
As I say every month for six months I had to appear at the cop shop to answer bail just like a common criminal. It had one benefit though I shot to the top of the housing list after I threatened to stick a knife in his throat.
However, the irony of all this was that the day after I had moved out the drugs squad raided his place and arrested him! The scumbag is still out there though, working full time, claiming benefits and peddling his filthy wares!

:) :) :) Yep it works and me being a technophobe have now managed to change the code on 4 players of my own and one for a (very trusting) neighbour, cos I wasn`t too sure and did not relish the prospect of forking out for a new player, but hey-ho it works and he`s happy as Larry!

Yep it does work, though you don`t think it will, as I saw no indication until that screen with the 2 in the small box appears.
I am a complete technophope and this is the third recorder/player that I have converted to multi regional!
Therefore if I can do it anyone can.
Thanks to everyone involved in this hack, it works, watching a `Bodyline` (Cricket) Region 4 DVD as I write.
