RE: Star Wars Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace on VCD
I bought both "The Phantom Menace" and the original Trilogy as soon as they became available on VCD as I had just purchased a DVD player and couldn`t wait.
All of the reviews that I read said that they were far better than VHS but, obviously, not at DVD standard. Well... don`t buy them unless you have bad eyesight!
The VHS copies that I have watched a million times are clearer! AND you don`t get shadows on video when anyone moves!!!
I am totally shocked that George Lucas allowed this shoddy version to be released.
And it`s not just my player or TV etc as I also got Planet of The Apes (2001) and Final Fantasy on VCD and, even though they are bootlegs (ooh, sorry) the picture quality is not far behind DVD.
I am still glad that I have the VCDs as they make an odd addition to my collection. It just makes the wait harder.
RE: Simpsons R.1 disc 3 problem?
Mine plays fine... and everyone says that the Alba 103 is crap!!!
Widescreen TV below £500
I am looking for a widescreen (28 or 32 inch) TV for less than £500.... Any good/bad experiences would be of use.
I am concerned over the fact that a lot of the TVs that are in Dixons for example have very grainy pictures even though they are meant to be digital high res 100Hz flicker free etc.
I`ve currently got a 28" widescreen Sanyo which has a fantastic picture but is rented and I would rather buy!
RE: Argos ALBA DVD104, 103, 113 - Regarding Macrovision, VCD, SVCD, CDR, CDRW, MP3.
I have a 103 and it plays absolutely everything - even discs that friends have trouble with.
RE: The Shining
The Region 1 version has a whole load of scenes that were cut out of the UK release. I was desparate to own the movie when I first got a player and was glad to see that, although the scenes are not wholly necessary they are excellent additions to a great movie
RE: Akira - limited edition tin box.
MovieTyme informed me that the tin had shipped on Monday and it arrived on Wednesday... not bad
Planet of The Apes (2001)?
Has anyone heard anything (good or bad) relating to the DVDs of Tim Burton`s Planet of the Apes available on a variety of auction sites at the moment?
Are they copied? If so, any idea what the original is taken from?
Thanks
Ben
RE: CHEWBACCA IS GOD!!
How can the stormtrooper hitting his head be an outtake when it`s in the film anyway?
RE: dvdsilvers.co.uk
Just tried to visit the site out of interest and it has been "removed"
RE: crouching tiger problem - help?
I`ve contacted Stephen again and cancelled the sale with him. I`m going to wait until I can get the official release... It`s worth the wait to ensure that I get what I want
RE: crouching tiger problem - help?
What player do you have? It appears that the disc works for some and not for others!
I`ve been in contact with Stephen and he states that the DVDs were sold to him as Region 3, he says that the audio commentary may not be present and that the underside is definitely silver.
RE: crouching tiger problem - help?
Hi... I just "won" 3 copies from QXL... they are from the guy that sells 100... has anyone bought any of these copies from him? If so, what`s the score... I`ve been waiting a long time to get an affordable copy of the movie after a stupidly long wait at Movietyme etc. Please let me know if I should buy these copies or write them off and wait for Region1?
RE: Multi-angle DVDs
What about Fight Club...
The best multi angle featuires are on the Criterion Beastie Boys Collection...
Region 3
Will Crouching Dragon (Region 3) play on my Alba 103? I`ve got region 1`s but don`t know about 3`s...
RE: Beastie Boys DVD
I got about 6 weeks ago and it`s THE best DVD I have seen... it is how all bands should approach the medium. The camera angle and remix facilities are stunning nd the commentaries are great fun... I have the Alba 103 and there are no glitches whatsoever... I can`t remember what the region code is but I`ll look tonight and let you know in the morning...
Apocalypse Now region 2
Anyone have any idea why I can`t access the extra features on my disc? I have the Alba 103 player and when the disc loads i am faced with the language choice screen and then the film plays. If I try to access Title or menu screens the disc crashes...
Any ideas please?
