Got your attention?okay then.the phantom menace is crap-PERIOD,so, in light of the added excu...sorry extras on the phantom menace, what supplementals would you like to see on the star wars trilogy?
like ive said in a previous thread, extras do not make a movie,BUT,with amovie trilogy as celebrated as star wars, you cant expect fox to skimp can you?
here`s my thoughts;dts sound(heard it on the re-releases at the local odeon-AMAZING.),commentary from original cast, chewbacca subtitles(!),isolated score(one of THE classis movie scores),collection of outtakes(stormtrooper hitting his head is a world famous one!),deleted footage(come on george, there must be some).and my own persona addition;remove the sellotape from princess leia`s costume-lets see how she fares then when her `gold bikini` starts falling down!imagine the deleted scene `Jabbas hard chubby`.
any more?
the list could be endless

How can the stormtrooper hitting his head be an outtake when it`s in the film anyway?
Because they removed it from the special editions
Actually Mcbain, they didn`t. The stormtrooper bit is all present and correct still with a sound effect.
I would love it if they had seamless branching versions so you can watch the original versions of the trilogy instead of the poor Special Editions.
(eg greedo firing first, the pointless extra scenes towards the end of Empire with Vader flying to the super star destroyer and the new cheesier ending to Return of the Jedi)
Also I hope all the Deleted scenes (some already available on the Behind the Magic CD-Rom) from all three are included and cleaned up.
yeah sorry kind of forgot about the stormtrooper bit!its been a while! but you`re right, lets see the edit that george didnt want us to see.was the inspiration for the sarlac pit froma bad experience with an `experienced female of the trade`(think about it!),and an interview with kenny baker-`My life as a mobile dustbin`.but seriously,a movie collection as good as this will not go untouched, any suggestions for good exras are good-you never know who reads these threads!
one last question, why did the jawas choose horrific brown duffel coats as their dress code-truly awful(yes i have been watching the laserdiscs recently!)
hoo ti-nee!!!
The best thing they could do with these films is to use seamless branching to have both the original and special editions on the same disc, kinda like The Abyss or T2:UE.
IMHO this would be worth a thousand crap making of `featurettes`
Nick
(expecting to have to buy the editions separately)
I`ve got the VHS boxset and there aint no stormtrooper banging his head.
I know which bit you mean, when they bust into the detention block, but trust me, it`s been removed.
Mine isn`t the remastered version with the added bits but the one before that.
I kinda miss it as well.
No, trust me it`s in. And it ain`t in the bit your talking about it`s when the platoon break in through the door of the operations room and discover C3-PO and R2-D2 in the small room. It shows up better in widescreen as you can see him for a couple of seconds afterwards clutching his helmet.
This scene is present in both the Original and 1997 Special Edition.
What is missing from the 1997 edition however is several moments which have been censored for unknown reasons. The guard in the black uniform spinning to the ground when the heros enter the control room is trimmed as is the break in at the Detention block AA-23 when the `where are you taking this...thing?` guard is blasted.
Thanks groovy, I`ve just looked and you`re right!
All these years I`ve been looking in the wrong spot.
Ah well, such is life.
Thanks again.
Thingfish,
If you liked that Star Wars goof check out the bit in Return of the Jedi (all editions) when the bunker blows up and Han Solo is running away from it. Check out his reflection behind him in the safety screen, always makes me laugh.
Also in Empire there is a major continuity error. Where the hell does Luke Skywalker`s ladder go when he is leaving Dagobah?
