Page 1 of Argos ALBA DVD104, 103, 113 - Regarding Macrovision, VCD, SVCD, CDR, CDRW, MP3.

Ok as I have seen the other thread, and thought I would start one of my own.

To recap, The 104 (A replacement DVD sold as a 113 in Argos) will play everything and is region and macrovision free. I have tested MP3, SVCD, VCD on CDR`s and they all work.

I have also bought the 103 which did not play anything at all !!!, This I returned.

A Friend of mine bought the 113 (Two of them) and neither played VCD or SVCD on CDR`s.

DO NOT !!! buy the 113 or the 103, if you have bought one then take it back and insist on the 104, if they have them they will not mind exchanging them as long as you show the recipt, Just explain that the 104 will play VCD and SVCD so you want that one instead.

Do you have any problems with extras discs? i heard that the Alba 104 is one of the players highlighted by Buena Vista (Disney) as being unable to cope with extras on releases like Toy Story.

I have a 103 and it plays absolutely everything - even discs that friends have trouble with.

The 104 played toy story disc 3 with no problems, the 113 did not! Hope this helps
