For anyone that`s interested....

Recording programmes without Ads with Sky+?

Is it possible to record programmes without the ads using Sky+, or do you have to forward through them?

Thanks,

`Waterfall Edition` DVDs

Can anyone tell me what a `Waterfall Edition` DVD is? A friend spotted some on Play.com and asked if I knew what they were.

Thanks,

RE: Battling Tops

Hi Guys,

I`ve been off ill and haven`t had a chance to log on until now. STILL haven`t thought of the name!! I was hoping it would be here by the time I returned - so the pain in my head would go away!!

The search continues...

RE: Battling Tops

Neiliboy ,

It`s frustrating isn`t it!! My brain has melted!! It`ll come back to me I`m sure.

Marksparks999,

I think Beyblades is a more modern version of this again. It`s not the one I had.

I`m still searching through google - so I`ll update you if I find anything.

Cheers,

David

Battling Tops

I`m trying to remember the name of a game I used to have (1990`s). I thought my younger brother would like it (if I can find it!).

It`s a modern variation of `Battling Tops` (1970`s I think). The spinning pieces looked like robots and they came in a small case that converted into a `ring` to battle in.

Does anyone know what I`m talking about?! It`s stuck in my head and I`m slowly going crazy thinking about it!!

Thanks,

David

RE: Anyone been to St Lucia before? Will my mobile work???

Hi Doug,

I`ve been to St Lucia before (got married there), but can`t offer you any advice on the GPRS situation. Sorry!

Have a great time.

RE: N Ireland v England............

Hi Sparkster,

Ultimately I think we all meet up somewhere in between. The results may not be `excellent` but they haven`t been awful either. Maybe it is time for a new manager, maybe it`s not. I just think the criticism is too harsh at times.

RE: N Ireland v England............

I was lucky enough (as a N.I./Eng supporter) to be at the match!! The atmosphere was unbelievable!! Hats off to the England fans, they were great. I know they have received some flak in the press for not getting behind the team - but they were really up against it with N.I. fans in full flight! Had a chance to speak to quite a few of them before and after the match. Very magnanimous in defeat.

Zovirax, it`s a bit unfair to say that England`s defeat was an act of charity! We definitely wanted and deserved the win more.

I really hope England qualify. I`ve always supported them as well as N.I.. I think the press are being kinda harsh on Sven and Beckham. Sven`s results up to now have been excellent (bar a few i.e. Denmark) and we (I`m in England supporter mode now) will more than likely qualify. However, I think if England lose their next match Sven will be forced to leave.

I believe the press have ruined the relationship between Beckham and the fans. I watched him run his legs off for England on Wednesday night. It`s not his fault he was playing in the wrong position. The press love to build someone up to knock them down, and unfortunately the Beckham`s are getting the treatment.

Sven was getting flak for not experimenting with formations enough and always sticking to 4-4-2. The minute he makes a change (and fair enough, the result goes against him) the same people question his decisions!

Anyhoo, I hope England qualify and N.I. continue to win!! Maybe climb a few places in the FIFA rankings too - I haven`t heard of most of the countries above us!!

RE: Screenburn - How long does it take?

Thanks Guys.

I`m sure the TV will be fine. Just being paranoid!!

Screenburn - How long does it take?

I recently bought a Rear projection TV and I`m really happy with it. However, I`m always worried about screenburn.

How long is too long for a RPTV? I usually watch channels that have logos on them (but I rarely watch the same channel for hours on end). I never use playstation or gamecube on RPTV either.

Thanks

RE: Best Freeview Box?

Thanks everyone for your replies. Much appreciated.

My primary concern is freeing up the downstairs TV (my pride and joy at the minute). Hopefully my better half will find watching endless hours of mind-numbing reality TV in bed more appealing than the living room!!! Fingers crossed!!

RE: Best Freeview Box?

Thanks Bowfer.

These things are so apparent once you hear what it stands for!!

RE: Best Freeview Box?

Adam/Bowfer,

At the risk of sounding silly - what is the EPG?

Thanks,

RE: Best Freeview Box?

Thanks Bowfer.

I might try to pick one up at the weekend.

Best Freeview Box?

I`m thinking about buying a freeview box for my TV in the bedroom. I don`t want to spend too much money on it. I`ve seen a selection in Tesco ranging from £35 to £65. I can`t remeber the makes/models though. Can anyone recommend one?

By the way, I only have an indoor aerial on that particular TV - does that matter? Do you need an aerial for a freeview box or am I being silly?

Thanks for your help.

What`s the best boxing match you`ve seen???

My favourite would have to be the Gatti Vs Ward `trilogy`.

1st fight:

Controversial: Gatti loses to Ward on majority decision (I thought Gatti should have won). Probably the most exciting fight I`ve ever seen.

2nd fight:

Lesson in boxing: Gatti wins easily (unanimous decision), out-boxing and dominating Ward from the first bell. Another great fight.

3rd fight:

Gatti wins again (unanimous decision), even though he broke his hand in the 4th round and had to get up off the floor in round 6.

I doubt I`ll ever see a set of fights as exciting as this again. So many have promised so much and failed to deliver.

RE: Best DVD player with Progressive Scan (on a budget)?

Hi Guys,

My TV is a Samsung SP42Q2HL Here

My current DVD player is the Toshiba SD330E. I`ll need to look at the TV`s manual again to see what it says about the Progressive scan feature (Don`t think it says much though!).

RE: Best DVD player with Progressive Scan (on a budget)?

42%er,

Thanks for the advice. I was under the impression that you needed both. You`ve probably saved me a fortune and a row with the Mrs!

Am I right in thinking that the progressive scan only works with the component connection - and not a scart?

Thanks

Best DVD player with Progressive Scan (on a budget)?

I`ve recently bought a new TV with component connections and progressive scan. However, my current DVD player (Toshiba SD330E) has component connections but no progressive scan. What is the best DVD player I could get with progressive scan without breaking the bank?

Is it worth it?

Thanks,

DSM

RE: Component connection - is it for me?

Thanks for the info/advice. I think I`ll have a go with the component leads. If the picture quality is the same or better I`ll use my current RGB Scart for the SKY Digibox.

I`ll let you know how it works out.

Thanks again,

DSM

Component connection - is it for me?

I`ve just bought a new TV (Samsung Rear Projection - SP42Q2HL) and I believe it has component in (progressive scan - I think). As far as I know my current DVD player has component outputs. Is it worth buying a component cable? Or should I stick to a good RGB only scart?

Do you think the component cable below (see link) is any good?

Thanks for your help,

RE: Any good sites for downloadable music videos??

Andy,

mtv.com is good for music videos. However, most are streamed to your PC. There are a few videos available to download also.

apple.com/trailers is good for watching movie trailers too.

Hope this helps.

RE: How much would it cost to repair/replace a cracked 42inch Rear Projection TV screen?

Choagy,

Sorry it`s taken me so long to reply. I think my friend has got a quote now - not as bad as she thought it might have been!

Thanks,

DSM

How much would it cost to repair/replace a cracked 42inch Rear Projection TV screen?

A friend of mine has had their 42inch Rear Projection TV screen cracked (another friend accidently hit it with the remote control).

Does anyone have any idea as to how much it would cost to repair (or more likely, replace) the screen?

It`s a Toshiba (not sure about the exact model), and cost around £1100.

Thanks.
