RE: Synchronisation problems
Thanks for the replies...
So I guess the hardware isn`t the problem, but the software is...
Could it be that difficult to delliver a full-working product? :(
Synchronisation problems
Hi guys, this is going to be a tad long, but bare with me if u can.
I was wondering if some of u are experiencing the same problem as i am.
With the DVD of Shrek (region 2 version Benelux version), the sound seems to be a bit off sync with the picture.
It`s a little hard to notice in the movie, but in the extra featurette "The tech of Shrek", the synchronisation is way off.
I also have the DVD set of Scream (also region 2) and the same problem is noticeable in the first movie. Especially in the scene where Sidney is all alone at home and she`s watching the tv (the news of Casey Beckers` murder is totally off sync).
At first I thought the problem was with my dvd-player, an Aiwa 370.
But I just got a Playstation 2 and the same problems seem to occur with the same movies.
When I tried the movies on my PC with DVD-ROM, the Shrek featurette seemed to be a bit better, but still not perfect.
Has this problem something to do with the NTSC/PAL conversion (in case of the featurette) and just a bad conversion in the "Scream"-case?
Since I`ve had these problems, I seem to notice them with other movies as well. Am I seeing ghosts here?
RE: Playing CD-R on Samsung 511
Well there is only one way to say this.
No it won`t play CD-R discs.. it never will..
RE: X-Men R2 problems?
The menu is a bit slow, but that`s not the problem.
I do have trouble accessing the picture gallery.
When I choose one of the two, the picture goes black and stays black.
I don`t have much patience, so I pressed the "next" button, but all stays black.
When I press "stop" and "play" again, I get one picture and then it freezes again.
I have a Aiwa 370 and my X-men copy is region 2 (dutch subtitles).
Is the Amadeus DVD at DVDBoxoffice a flipper disc version?
Title said it all.
I`m looking for Amadeus without needing to flip the disc over during the movie. And there`s no mention about this on the DVDboxoffice site.
Thanx..

RE: AIWA 370
Have a look here:
http://www.choosefirst.co.uk
Try it a couple of times...
If it still doesn`t work, well congratulations then, you`d have the first none hackable Aiwa.
RE: cyberhome AD-N212
Have a look to the left of u......
RE: Sony DAV-S300 Region Encoding?
Keep `m coming guys.
There is no remote hack to make it multiregion!
You have to chip it.
RE: Possibly a stupid question!
The Sony STR-DE 445 does support DTS!

By the way what do you think of the 445?
Have u compared it to any other receivers?

RE: PCs and Macrovision
Have a look at digital digest

There you should find an answer.

RE: Aiwa 370?
The Toshiba is very nice indeed, but it doesn`t play CD-R`s nor CD-RW`s, it can`t play MP3 discs andyou`ll have to get it modified to be multiregion.
My choice? In alphabetical order:
Aiwa 370 (nowhere to be seen)
LG 3350E (no VCD playback though)
Pioneer DV-535
Toshiba SD100E

Where to order online Rurouni Kenshin for shipment to Belgium?
Well you`ve probably read the title.
Online store who sell it, usually have to double the price to ship it over to Europe (Belgium).
Anyone an idea?
Yangshouwen?

RE: how hack a pioneer 535?
Hardware hacks have to be bought.
It`s either installing a chip or downloading software, but one way or the other you have to pay for it.

RE: Last queries on LG 3350E
The Techtronics also has macro disabled, but you can do the region hack yourself (it`s the same as the Aiwa`s 370 hack).

RE: Can someone please explain Macrovision?
Also have a look at this thread:

RE: MACROVISION
That depends on your player.
Some have macrovision disabled and some that have been hardware modified also have it disabled.
The other solution is to buy a picture enhancing device, wich you connect between the video output of the player, and the A/V input of the TV. This also disables macrovision.

RE: For all interested parties, The Aiwa Owners Network site...
There`s little mixup on your introduction page.
"...the Aiwa has the ability to play DVD, CDAudio, VCD, CDR, CDRW and MP3 media..."
"...It cannot, however play VCD..."???
Better adjust it quickly before we get another rampage of "can it play VCD??"-postings. ;)
The rest seems very nice (although the introductionpage colors!! :-o )
Still, well done JIMBO!

RE: DOES ANYONE HAVE THE HACK INFO FOR SONY PRODUCT ID DVP336
And you won`t get to play the special features ... hey nothings perfect.
It`s a bit brutal I think :-/
¦°e\/[\]
RE: MACROVISION
It`s a DVD-Copy Protection Code, that will scramble the picture when u try to connect your DVD with your VCR.

RE: what`s the AIWA 370 european equivalent?
Thanks 007 now u confused everybody!! ;)
Shekhar, if u really want to be sure that it`s hackable, then just ask your local retailer to get it out of the box and try the hack (I did mine in 60 seconds :).
It won`t screw up the player so he shouldn`t refuse it.
But remember to follow the as it`s posted on Jimbo`s site (don`t hesitate too long while pushing the numbers, but don`t be nervous either).
for Jimbo`s site, visit:

BTW sorry if I was a bit rude in the previous postings...
Now go and try it out!

RE: I want to buy a DVD
That all depends on what you are looking for leemus.
Does it have to be region free, macrovision disabled, play MP3`s, have a built-in decoder, play CD-R and/or CD-RW`s, etc...
Take a looktrough some postings to see what other people liked or disliked about there players.
¦°e\/[\]
RE: what`s the AIWA 370 european equivalent?
Did u read this thread at all?????
It`s the SAME player!!!
¦°e\/[\]
RE: I have a similar problem,
John,
the problem is that your player converts the NTSC signal to PAL 60, but your VCR can only record in PAL 50.
So you would need a NTSC to PAL converter to solve the problem.
¦°e\/[\]
RE: what`s the AIWA 370 european equivalent?
Yep!
Maybe u could put up a site with all this useless info!! ;-)
¦°e\/[\]
RE: Sony DVP 335 and audio CDRs
This is not a very nice way to put your first postings on this forum.
A posting should be placed in one forum, not all of them.
And to answer your question.
Some CD-R`s from "that`s write" and "primco" (or something) will work on this player, but they are exceptions!
Sony DVD players (normally) don`t play CD-R`s CD-RW`s period.
¦°e\/[\]
RE: AIWA DV 370 IS THIS FOR REAL??????
LOL
Farooq you`ve been here on this forum for a little while now.
But you`re a bit behind........................ (a long bit ;)
The hack that u mention was posted (as far as I know) here first!!
Look at Jimbo`s site:
http://www.choosefirst.co.uk
or
http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com (same site)
and all the numerous threads on the matter.

RE: Macrovision dissabler will work on region 2, but not on 1???
Thanks for the replies!
I`ve got some extra info.
His VCR should play and record NTSC tapes (according to the manual).
He told me that he can watch the movie in color on his TV and on the VCR channel.
The "problem disc" is Scary Movie
The DVD player is a Philips 701.
So the macrovision should be disabled by his "enhancer" box (it works on his region 2 discs).
And the NTSC problem should be solved because his VCR can play AND record NTSC. (unless he didn`t read his manual correct of course)
Or does the Philips player have to have the NTSC to PAL conversion still (like the Aiwa??).
By the way, his problem does sound like macrovision (weird picture, good sound).
As u see I`m not really sure on the matter... :-/
