AIWA DV 370 IS THIS FOR REAL??????

FAR08 (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 21st January 2001, 13:23

Has anyone bought the feb issue of TOTAL DVD?
Well it has the mulit region hack by remote. Has anyone out there tried this yet? Total dvd are saying it works but doesn`t state anything about the macro.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE NOT HAVE THE MAG HERE IT IS:
Beware, the 370`s fiddly remote makes this quite tricky to master.
1. Make sure there are no discs in the player, turn the unit on with Power button. `No disc` appears in the LCD display panel.
2. Press the Pause/step button once only.
3. Press 3,1,4,1,5,9 using the number buttons.
4. The display shows `Code-----` . Press the number button according to the region code you want (1-6) or press 0 to accept all regions.
5. Press the Pause/step button once again.
6. Turn the unit off with the power button. when you turn it on again, the switch will have been completed.

I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS, I HAVE COPIED IT FROM THE MAG. IF THIS WORKS CAN YOU TELL ME IF IT HAS DISABLED MACROVISON

Yes Farooq, this hack is for real(although I suggest you switch the power off for longer than the "few seconds" recommended") and has been available for several weeks now. And yes it did disable the macro on my 370 although some of the other forum contributors disagree!

Since doing the hack I have recorded R1 and R2 discs onto Mitsibushi,Panasonic and Hitachi vcrs without any problems.

By the way, AIWA 370 ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. You got one just in time as I`ve heard Aiwa are no longer selling them in the UK!

Ah, I see you have returned Aja.
Again, we will state the same request as before,
Pleases post EXACT details of how you hacked your player, including times, discs used etc.

You are the ONLY reported Aiwa owner with disabled Macrovision, and it seems highly unlikely this was due to the hack, as it is now confirmed that Macrovision is controlled by the C-Cube Ziva chip, which the hack does not affect.

but, post the method, it`s worth a try because I`ve tried almost EVERYTHING else known to man!!

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!
(oh, and I wonder where that mag got the hack from, eh? I only posted it here wayyyy back in November! lol)

Why oh why do you doubt me?

I have taped (onto VHS),among others, several of the Bond DVDs without any problem. As previously stated I have managed to perform this "miracle" onto various makes of VCR.

Aiwa 370 ROCKS (while stocks last!) !!!!!!!

Smelly Sox,

I have not altered ANY of the internal workings of the 370 at all therefore I can only assume that the hack has defeated the macro!

Has anyone else been successful in taping any of the DVDs I mentioned onto the brands of VCRs listed?

In the meantime- AIWA 370 ROCKS!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but you STILL haven`t answered the question!!!

>"Has anyone else been successful in taping any of the DVDs I mentioned onto the brands of VCRs listed?"

Well, let`s see...I get around 50 to 100 emails per day about the 370/3350, and the top two questions?

1) how can I disable the Macrovision?
2) Can you really enable VCD on the LG 3350?

Answers are: 1) Dunno, still trying to find a way, and 2) Yep, I can enable the LG VCD function.

You are NOT being doubted, you are being asked how you did it to help everyone else!!
However, let`s drop the Bond DVD`s, go buy a copy of "Enemy Of The State" and drop it to a new Panasonic VCR (or a recent Nicam model) and then post your results.

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!
