It`s a DVD-Copy Protection Code, that will scramble the picture when u try to connect your DVD with your VCR.

That depends on your player. Some have macrovision disabled and some that have been hardware modified also have it disabled.
The other solution is to buy a picture enhancing device, wich you connect between the video output of the player, and the A/V input of the TV. This also disables macrovision.
