RE: Sky TV and Sky Plus

Hi,
You mentioned in your post, "so i took the 1/2 price deal and will try and get a Sky Plus box for FREE in the January sales!"

Sorry to ask, but whos January Sale???

Only asking because I was also really annoyed that its only a new customer offer :((

RE: Hack needed for 4KUS DVD-Recorder from ASDA!!!!

Hi Emily,
I had the same picture stuttering problem with the Asda Kus4 DVD recorder.

I got my first DVD recorder about 6 weeks ago and i started with a Liteon 5005 from Index, which had major stuttering and RGB problems. Luckly, I got a refund and then discovered the Kus4 in Asda was a re-badged Liteon 5001.

It was bril for the first few weeks, no RGB problems, multi region hack, was less compatible but it worked just fine.
About a week ago, arghhhhh, picture stutter even when your just watching TV via the recorder.

Phone the Asda telephone number on the back of the manual to log a fault and get a Ref No, after that you can get a new replacement from your store or a full refund.

I decided to take the refund and go buy a different brand.
Sorry to say I didnt have a great experience with Liteon (Kus4) standalone recorders :(

RE: Calling Nelley and other Scan users..

Hi,

I got my scan in November and bought The Matrix at the same time, I know what mean when you talk about brightness pulsing and pixelation during the movie.

I upgraded from v164 to v192 suspecting macrovision, v192 with macrovision disabled certainly helps but now suspect that The Matrix itself is partly to blame, reason being, The Gladiator movie picture quality is stunning and if you turn on Display Info and check the Bit Rate Meter it is normally a lot higher during dark scenes than on The Matrix.

I’m not a techi, but I’m assuming higher Bit Rate is equal to …more picture info…better quality.

I’m sure someone will clarify

RE: Scan SC DVD 2000 Player / To buy or not to buy ?

Hi pedro,

Took the plunge myself a few weeks ago and bought the scan machine,

1. Love the machine, its played everything I`ve thrown at it, including
un-finalised mp3 disks I`m working on.
2. Machine arrived in less than 24 Hrs (west coast of Scotland).
3. Getting through to scan technical support is a nightmare.

BUT

4. The main man from Scan (Nelley) reads the forum and when hes
available will sort things out for you if you really need him (main
reason I trusted scan with my money).

Its up to you matey, read everything you can find, then jump on in.

RE: Need advice on SCAN 2000 DVD UPGRADE

Just checking (honest)

How can you check your current firmware version number

and

Is the upgrade the new one to disable macrovision as I`m hoping thats whats causing the flashing during the dark areas of "The Matrix"

Thank you Nelly

Hi,

I`ve been reading this forum for a few week now and finally decided yesterday which DVD player to buy.........

Yip........The Scan 2000 (new batch)

If it hadn’t been for your presence here and the comments of a bunch of DVD fans, I would probably have bought the first player I saw.

I ordered my machine on Wednesday morning and it arrived Thursday lunchtime, God it’s a sexy looking beast (the machine).

Everything set-up correctly as per the manual. Inserted my first DVD………..WOW…….love it.

Maybe its not the best music CD around but for the money I wouldn’t expect it to be, anyway it sounds great to me.

Again, Thanks to all who post here.

P.s. Nelly !! any chance I can get a copy of the CD with the new patch on it (wouldn’t know how to burn the file attached to an email)

P.p.s And good on you for having the guts to post in here

RE: Desparately seeking....Wharfedale 750S at Scottish Tesco Store

Hi,

Sure I saw loads in the Irvine Superstore (Ayrshire) on Sunday,
would phone them first to confirm.

Question,

Read at another site that the 750 can play MP3 , MPX (karaoke)
formats and disable macrovision, can anybody confirm the 750s can do the same.

Thanxs
