RE: Annoying my friends
My housem8s did this to each other last year... One of the best was a male underwear catalogue, although I cannot for the life of me remember where we subscribed to it. Although the catalogue was relentless and came on a reasonably regular basis. Also it was free.
RE: Is the Tour De France on tv this year?
I remember that... and the only real reason it came to the UK was that they could come down the newly finished but not open channel tunnel !

RE: burning ants with a magnifying glass
LOL I was down in London visiting some friends... Its the first time I have been there at this time of year and I had never even seen this phenomonon before !! My friends informed me that it happens every year for a few days and I was like "Really ??"
Suppose its one advantage of rainy Manchester weather. as I have never seen any of the little blighters flying around in such large numbers ! In fact I don`t think that I have seen a single flying ant round here....

RE: Is the Tour De France on tv this year?
Hi there !
The tour is such a fantastic race I love it... actually I have Eurosport on atm :o) Anyway heres a bit of info on the tour this year. It going to be 20 stages with 7 mountain ones (7,8,9,13,14,15,16) . The highlight is indeed on Sunday 13th which will include the Col du Galibier at 2646m and ending on L`Alpe-Heuez at 1850m.... gonna be a blinding stage and I figure Lance will be on top of things quite literally.
Anyway I have been inspired to finally buy my own racer this year after borrowing my dads for so long ! Can`t wait....

RE: HELP!! Schneider dvd 857 Excessive noise
I have exactly the same issue regarding the Schnider.. I have had it for a few months and I am seriously considering taking it back. I orginally had the Pacific which apart from asthetics was a fantastic player. I upgraded to the Schneider as it has option to output 5.1 sound to speakers and also as it looks (imo) better than the Pacific 1002.
The noise for me only seems to occur with certain discs... And I was wondering if it was a problem to do with varying thickness of discs and their lable. Anyway I am seriously considering taking it back and getting a Accoustic Solutions from Richer Sounds. My Girlfriend has one and I am much fonder of it than I am of my Schneider....

RE: How did this happen?
Sounds to me like you have set the files to be compressed to save file space...
If you right click them and check properties, then advanced it would be there... Although with no further information this is just a guess !

RE: Does the Sony DVP-NS305 play SVCDs ?
Ok I will elaborate...

ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

ps: when will people learn to read
RE: Does the Sony DVP-NS305 play SVCDs ?
Mine doesn`t... I dunno if they have changed them, but they never used to...

RE: Is this true?
Ok how about this one then...
You will need:
1 Football
1 Panet Earth
1 Very long reel of string
And some time
Wrap the string around the footballs equator and tie
Wrap the string around the Earth`s equator and tie (may take some time)
Now add a foot of sting to each strings length and suspend equally around each sphere. ie as the string is now longer it will make a larger circle.
Qu. Which string is closer to the surphace of the sphere ??
RE: Oblivion - Alton Towers
Oblivion ???
I cannot possibly comment... On the three occaisions I have visited Alton Towers since Oblivion was added I have never been able to ride it. Each time it has been stuck with people on it. I don`t know if I have just had bad luck, but every time ! In fact the last time I visited was to meet a load of friends, it was a gorgeous day and we sat in the park area watching the ride for about 2 hours. In that time they never got it to move, they had to call an paramedics in as people were getting sun stroke up there !! Its put me off ever going on it...
And I agree the American rides blow it out of the water, Krakan, The Hulk, and Dualing Dragons to name a few are all much bigger, longer and more fun...

RE: Choosing new TV, 100hz disappointing, is 50hz the way to go?
I have a Sony 100Hz 32" jobbie... God knows what model I have never been much of a code lover ! But I think that its great, although I have never noticed a shadowing problem, maybe when I go home and look tonight I will be able to see it :/
Great TV and I love it !

RE: What`s everyone`s spec? cmon` lets see who`s the biggest geek!!
Depends on what you side of it you look...
The PIV 3.066 is faster, but slower bus than the 3.0 (800FSB)... But in some applications straight number crunching the PIV 3.066 is better !
And Nelly the AMD isn`t even a contender !! LOL 3200+ thats not clock, just equivalent speed per clock of the old thunderbird, you should know you sell them.... And anyhow it performs close to a PIV 2.8 so its poorly named !!
I have a P4 2.4b Overclocked to 2.9GHz (161 FSB)
Asus P4G8X (Granite bay)
2x 512 Corsair DDR (running in dual mode)
80GB SATA main drive (80 more in slave)
Geforce 4 Ti4600

RE: It`s about time we had a forum for PC related items
I personally think that it is an extreemly extensive topic.... If people want PC advice they should go to a more dedicated forum, not only as more people with similar experiance will be around, but the advice given will be (in most cases) better !
Try forums such as :

RE: Blockbuster - free DVD rentals,
Hi all :o)
Got this one the other day and it has been driving me up the wall. I haven`t got the foggiest and neither do my 7 other housem8`s ! I have run a few web searches and not got anywhere...
"Flashbacks to Bunker Bunkum"
Loads of things have been suggested but nothing really fits, anyone got any suggestions ?

RE: People who talk in cinemas
LMAO Classic !!! Yeah really písses me off, floodlit people dotted throughout the Cinema...
Although I cannot say I have never opened my mouth during a film. I occasionally lean over to whoever I go with and drop in a comment or word. But I try to be subtle. I remember when I first saw Lord Of The Rings, when Lord Elrond first appears I leant over to my m8 and went "Holy shít its Agent Smith... Run Frodo!"

RE: can any 1 recomend a sub £100 dvd multi reg
The Accoustic Solutions sold by Richer Sounds are good players. My Girlfriend has one and I can`t find any fault with it. I have a Schnider (Also sold at Asda) and this is quite good as a budget player that will output 5.1. Its essentially a Pacific 1002 with a bit of extra functionality...

Cheap DVD player advice
Hi all :o) I am looking at buying a DVD player for one of my housem8s 21st Birthday. I have a Sony NS305 as well as a Pacific 1002 and a Schneider-857 (essentially the same player) in the house, and would like to get her something of the same niche as the latter two for a similar price... Looking at about £70. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions ? Obviously I don`t want to get her the same as one already here as its a bit naff :/
I was looking at the players offered by Richer Sounds...
Anyhow hopefully someone can give me some ideas !

RE: FHM Poll - Who are you top ten sexiest women???
1. Kaite Holmes
2. Natalie Portman
3. Charlotte (off Sex in the city)
4. Nina (off Neighbours)
5. Miss Avril Lavigine
6. Sandra Bullock
7. Jennifer Love Hewit
8. Kristen Kreuk

Hard ass question... don`t think a reply has ever taken me so long in any forum !
RE: That music from the Lynx advert... :-)
Fantastic Ad !!! Me and one of my housem8s both love it... We have even started to practice it ??
I wouldn`t have any issues with doing the dance in public if the music came on :o) I hope I encounter it soon !

RE: What are your ten favourite albums?
Metallica - S&M
Nirvana - From The Muddy Banks of the Wishka
Guns N` Roses - Appetite for Destruction
Michael Jackson - History
System Of A Down - Toxicity
Foo Fighters - The Colour The Shape
Pantera - 101 Proof
Korn - Follow The Leader
Red Hot Chillie Peppers - Californication
Disturbed - The Sickness
Sorry about the best ofs... but these are the albums that have brought me the most enjoyment out of everything else!
RE: schneider dvd 857
Hi there this player is essentially a Pacific 1002 in a prettier box and with 5.1 sound output !
Region hack is the same : (From memory you should check)
Open draw
press clear
1
3
6
9
0 (for multiregion 1-4 for specific choices)
close disc draw

RE: 28 days later?
I have been thinking the exact same question... I loved this film and would like to own it.
I saw it around November I think, but I am not really sure of the exact date ! Anyway I guess it hasn`t been that long.

RE: Sony DVP-NS 715 - Help me to make multiregion or region 2
You`ll be waiting a long time....

RE: Pacific 1002 - locked keys
LOL I pointed this out in a couple of other threads... I never managed to lock my keys in the first place, but I always knew that it carried the lock function and to me it seemed like a pretty likely senario that someone could press the button in error.
Anyway if this is the reason for sporadic cries of malfunctioning front buttons it would make my day ! More stupid people out there then I was led to believe :p
Heheheh
Tim
RE: DVD ROM thoughts
Erm ? I don`t understand... Anyway I will just make a few statements :
DVD ROMs (Some require flash) will play any region
Software will limit your Region changes to 5 goes - Programs such as DVD Genie bypass this
Therefore you can use any region disc as many times as you like !

RE: Did anyone have any problems ordering their Basic Instinct S.E. ?
:o) Well I must admit I am very impressed with the outcome here... I was about to add 101 to my sites to avoid list, but this has just saved them for me !
Tim
RE: Cheap DVD Player - Again!!
Yeah Sl thats exactly what you need !! :o) The Pacific will do the job and stop the B&W playback
Tim
RE: Help me understand please Digital output v Dts
Hmmm Model`s ?
From the sounds of it the first 1 (Together with home cinema) has the potential to do everything the 2nd can do once it is hooked up to 5 speakers and a sub that do not need a decoder !
But the specifications of the Home Cinema system are important, it needs to be able to support DTS also.
Tim
RE: pacific 1002/schneider 857
Erm the 5.1 decoder makes absolutely no difference to the Television sound UNLESS the tv has 5.1 speakers and input for this, not so sure about completely intergrated televisons, but I think that they are almost an extinct affair. Somebody can probably correct me on this :)
You want a seperate Speaker and decoder system...This will be able to accept the signal from your current player as it fully supports Digital sound output via a coaxal or optical connection.
The sound on your current television will not be affected as that is only Stereo and the pacific outputs this...
Tim
ps: Do Asda mind you swapping the player ? I have thought about doing this myself !
