Marketing for Amazon's lavish adaptation of Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series of high fantasy novels is starting to kick into gear. They have released the first snippet in the form of this "promo". It is really just the logo reveal, but it at least confirms that they intend to release it some time this year.
A proper trailer will probably follow in the coming weeks/months.
The first season will be 6 episodes and the second season is already in pre-production.
Anybody familiar with the novels? I know nothing except the brief synopsis on the wikipedia page. It sounds considerably grander in scope than Game of Thrones.
I'm not familiar with the novels, but then I'd never heard of Game of Thrones until someone said it was like a medieval fantasy version of Deadwood.

RE: [VIDEO] The Wheel Of Time
Logged back in here after a bit of a break and pleased I did!
This series was epic! Like G RR Martin, Jordan struggled to finish it and died in the end! Last two books had to be done by another author whose name I think is Brandon Sanderson. He's wrote some other books (mist born series) which I found very good and he also did the the ending justice.
Tempted to give this a re-read. Two characters from this series I loved, Lan and Matt...watch this space!

I've started watching this, I think they are up to episode 6 and I've seen the first two.
Rosamund Pike is awesome, it's definitely fulfilling my fantasy itch right now.

"Help, we've been caught by the trollocs"
Two or three episodes in, and I'm not into it yet. It doesn't help that the big scary monsters are like something from a children's fairytale and named by the two Ronnie's sketch writers.
