Been watching the first two episodes, and there are a lot of very poor technical reasons to keep the plot running. This makes it poorly written/scripted, and hope it gets better.
SPOILER:
No communications when primary fails, come on there would be backups.
No probes to check Earth, rather than sent humans. Or alternatively check on the humans when they landed, by using a probe.
Just kill hundreds on board the spaceark, rather than give them an option to send them down on another drop ship.
Guy gets the weight of a well thrown spear to the chest and ends up with an elastoplast stuck on, and he's ok. Yeh!
It has to get better, if not, then bye bye.
its shockingly bad unfortunately....:(
I think someone watched a Twilight/After Earth double bill and then cobbled this together. It's pretty bad, and I'll suffer through a lot of crap.

It's OK, it shines in places, other not so much & some of the characters change from your expected perceptions (I''m not saying who) as the story develops.
Tim Scanlon lifts something from Firefly\Serenity towards the end of the season.
There's a unexpected plot twist stinger right in the closing moments of Season 1.
Season 2 starts in October here.
My outlook on life is positive & carefree, I'm positive that I'm a pessimist & I don't care what what you think.
Never has so little had to be explained by me to so many so often.
I'm quite enjoying it to be honest, but I'm not much of a sci fi nut :)
Gave it up, just to predictable and downright boring.
I've just started watching it and it really is better if you watch it in big chunk rather than 1 ep at a time. Very dark in places and really liking it, so great character journeys - which surprised me.
Also some rather stupid kids, but hey...
