Quote:
The AMC Original Series Low Winter Sun is a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred. Low Winter Sun begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld. Based on the award-winning 2006 British miniseries of the same name, Low Winter Sun stars Mark Strong (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Zero Dark Thirty) and co-stars Lennie James (The Walking Dead, Jericho, Snatch). Chris Mundy (Criminal Minds, Cold Case) serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Season one consists of ten, one-hour episodes.

Starts the same night as Breaking Bad - August 11th. I`ll watch anything with Mark Strong.

Added to the watch list, thanks.
Good to see a couple of British guys taking the lead :)

Two solid Brit actors playing Americans? I'll be giving that a go. :)

What is it about Brits playing Americans (with the exception of Eddie Izzard and Bob Hoskins) that makes them so much more interesting to watch than most US actors?

Often when I find an American actor I really like, they turn out to be Canadian.

The first episode is really gripping. They knocked it out of the park with this one.

So many shows to watch, so little time!

Just watched the finale. Absolutely brilliant show and a corker of a final episode. Mark Strong needs some Emmys for this.

The ratings weren't particularly good, though, so I'm expecting it to be cancelled rather than renewed.

I'll to give this a blast then.  I've never seen the original and was intrigued by it, but then only saw very bad reviews for it.

Wasn't many episodes was there?

Just 10, with the last being shown together as 9-10. Which I just finished watching. :)

Overall an interesting series, which I thought started out very strong and intriguing, but the last few episodes seemed to feel for me like I'd missed 15 minutes of story. Nicely ended though.

SPOILER:
Like how suddenly there is some trial that I don't recall anybody mentioning before, that Frank is a witness in, and this suddenly pops up out of nowhere? And somehow he tracks Katya down to this webcam pron site, via some guy who just showed up for that episode, all without warning?

And in episode 9 the flash forward at the start irritated me, as its become a very over-used cheap plot mechanic to build up some intrigue. Fair enough if they used it often, but I think this is the first time they used it, which made it feel just a cheap shot.

Actually the whole Frank going nuts bit in that episode seemed very rushed and a tad out of character. He's been so cool and in control for the entire series, then suddenly loses it all like that? Sending parcels to his ex who I don't even recall getting a mention till then?

Acting was very good, but thought at times the script went random.

I can't see where they'd go with a second season. It has some of the grit of The Wire, but that had some very clear long running plotlines through all seasons that this seems to have done and dusted in one.
