The Self Destruction Of Manchester United This Season
Okay I'm done joking about the disastrous start to the season they've had.
Were now into January and they have lost 5 times at home already to WestBrom, Everton, Tottenham, Newcastle and Swansea and away to Sunderland,Liverpool & Man City and to top it off they have only managed draws with Southampton,Tottenham & Cardiff.
Being a Liverpool fan I'm not going to lie I'm loving it !!!!, However this is pretty much the same side that won the premiership title last season but they no longer seem to be the unbeatable side that they once were, If they finish outside the top four that would be financial suicide for them.
I know that Liverpool went into melt down after Kenny quit because we had an ageing side but surely with Manchester United youth set up surely they would be better prepared for the old guards dimise.

I think Moyes' Utd side has dropped 16 points in 10 league games at home.
Under Taggart they dropped 14 in his last 68 home league games.
It was nice to see a loan signing helping the cause again too. :)
I wish paull was still here.

I was thinking something similar. :) He'd have a RVP love-a-thon in full swing I'm sure.
Moyes seems to be beginning an implosion:

"It's really terrible," Moyes told Sky Sports. "We're actually beginning to laugh at them [the referees]."
As an Arsenal fan, I've seen a fair share of poor decisions (a really bad offside decision in a cup game that would end years of trophy drought, having your main world class striker sent off for not hearing a whistle in a CL semi-final), but I think most fans have experienced things like that and it's nothing unusual.
Pretty much 99% of the time though, I blame the team for being in a position where the game was so tight that a bad decision made a difference. And I think the moment the manager is blaming the referees they've lost the plot.
Moyes seems to have lost the plot, I'm starting to suspect Man Utd will become just like City and Chelsea, jumping on the manager merry-go-round everytime they don't win the league.

Are they going to give Moyes the 3 or 4 years was it that Ferguson had to get the team the way he wanted it? Even if they wanted to I don't think the Glazers can or will be able to afford 4 years out of Europe.
I've no doubt that given that time scale Moyes could build something like a good team, maybe not up to Fergusons standard but certainly close.
The question though is when some sign of improvement starts appearing and whether the cries for new players are met, at least in part, this January.
To answer the spirit of the question though for any but Utd supporters it's a joyful experience listening to the phone ins these days with wall to wall Utd supporters spitting rage and bile demanding 'Moyes out' and calling him tactically inept.

Rodgers accepted the FA charge against him last noght for his comments after the Man City game. The offside decision game against Sterling was staggering. The linesman even gave an offside decision from a goalkick later on - that the ref also allowed!!! FFS - don't they even know the rules?
It really was a horrendous performance...
Back on topic though... Apparently Moyes was recently heard to say that for years he dreamt of seeing wild celebrations in the away end at Old Trafford and now he gets to see it every other week... :)

As a Tottenham fan I like the fact that we are languishing behind in 6th...yet Yoo-ntd are still below us!
Anyway on the Spurs side of things I had this conversation with a fellow fan yesterday of how AVB lost his job but was still ahead of Moyes - are Yoo-ntd keeping the faith with him or too embarassed to dump him after just a few months? Let's be fair he hardly lit the prem alight with Everton really. Was he hired because they didn't want to confuse the Surrey darlings by taking on a non-scot? Maybe they thought could fool them in to thinking Alec hadn't left after all...
I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad

They appointed him because Ferguson picked his successor and Moyes felt like looking in a mirror at a younger Ferguson.
He'll probably get this season and a good start in the next unless it starts with too many losses or even draws. That's always assuming that 'senior players' haven't lost so much faith that they p*ss off to pastures new next summer.
After that Glazer will look to prop up the evil empire and Ferguson will appear to Moyes in a dream saying "David I am your father"

One thing we know all too well. :)
And if they are going to do it to Wenger, they'll certainly do it to Moyes. One thing Fergie was excellent at, was making sure his team knew that the moment any of them thought they were bigger than the manager or the club, they got sold.
But then being Man Utd that was easy, you just went and got someone else. Question now will be, is that going to be as an attractive proposition anymore?
You really have to admire the Arsenal board for sticking behind Wenger all these years, even if they were obviously part of the reason for the trophy drought by being sensible with the spending. They could have used him as a scapegoat when the pressure was high.
Be interesting to see if the Utd board will stick by Moyes in the same way, or just yield to pressure from fans.

That's a good point RJS as times have changed dramatically since SAF was given his 4/5 years to get it right.
