England V Ecuador formations

Ok so what formation do you think sven should play.

i would go for Plan A

robinson

carragher----ferdinand(if fit)--terry---A.Cole

beckham----hargreaves-----gerrard---j.cole

rooney

--------------walcott

rooney likes to have a striker to play off and with crouch in the team it just doesn`t happen. walcott is all we have left to play that role.

or Plan B

robinson

-------carragher----ferdinand(if fit)--terry----

Lennon----hargreaves-----gerrard---A.cole

--------------lampard-----------rooney-----------

walcott

It`ll be the first one with crouch instead of walcott, and their places swapped.

Plan A - Crouch not Walcott to start (and i nevr like Rio at the back anyways but we`ll let it slide)

Plan B - Gerrard should be more attacking than Lampard - he`sjust better. TO be honest if your playing three at the back id have 2 wnig backs, 3 across middle and 2 up front

FFS don`t let Hargreaves anywhere near the ball!

This for me:

Robinson

-------Carrager-----Terry-------Ferdinand-------Cole

Carrick/Hargreaves

----------Gerrard
Lampard----------
Beckham
Cole

Rooney

or neville or cambell depending on fitness etc. Hargreaves or carrick sitting in, gerrard and lumpard attacting midfielders and cole and becks out wide and rooney up the middle.

With that formation, we have a chance. if it not going so well, becks off and lennon on, if we are defending i tight lead late on, we all fall back into a tigh 4-5-1 :)

Got to agree with that one - Gerrard and Lampard can play more attacking - I think Hargreaves played well in the last match as that "holding" role.

Might just say it could be better to allow Gerrard a free roaming midfield role.

Think i said earlier in tourney that Gerrard is being wasted and that a holding midefielder should be used to free him (even if at expense of lamps) I also think I said Hargreaves was getting a real bum deal from people as he hadnt had aproper chance. I am glad he had a good game the other day

I cant argue much with the last formation given (though I am not a Beckham fan)

Lennon on for Beckham - should happen but never will coz SGE wont do it. The other night he was non existent and not even a whisper that he would be taken off.

crouch just doesn`t work with rooney and roon is a SS (support striker)

i agree he is slightly better but his attacking always come from much deeper in midfield. plus lampard tends to be further upfield anyway

How do you know that? they`ve barely played together. Also even if you class Rooney as a "support striker" then surely you need someone to hit for him to be able to go and support. Not sure I see 17 year old kid Walcott hanging onto the ball with a 6 foot 3 inch lump kicking his ass all afternoon

I take it you havent watched too many Liverpool games then, i`d hardly say he is attacking from "deep in midfield" given Xabi Alonso and Momo Sissoko occupy that area a lot. He plays so deep for England becuase he is given the holding role as Lamps cant do that job at all - hence wasting the best player we have

people used to say the same about owen?

crouch was only ever ment to be something different in the last 20 mins or so.
just look at how many chances he has missed. but he does have a good touch just doesn`t keep possesion.

honestly i don`t think there is much between lamps and stevie so you can have either more forward.
