Sainsbury’s Entertainment to become an entirely on demand website

Due to the rise in demand for downloading and streaming films and music, from March 2014 Sainsbury’s Entertainment will become a completely entertainment on demand site. From 28 February 2014 we will no longer accept online orders for physical products.

The Sainsbury’s Entertainment website will continue to grow, bringing you more music and films to download, and films to stream, on an ever expanding range of devices.

Sainsbury’s will continue to sell DVDs, CDs, books, games and games consoles for sale in more than 1,000 of our stores. Store Locator.

We will fulfil all customer orders placed by 28 February 2014 for products that are available to be delivered before 15 March 2014.

Thank you for shopping at Sainsbury’s Entertainment.

One less online store to buy DVDs and stuff from. Most idiotic decision I can think of, unless they know something about Royal Mail postal charges for 2014 that we don't

I'm guessing it's hardly profitable for them as I'd imagine Amazon is probably a lot of people's one and only call CDS, DVDs Blu ray etc. it's always my first, and usually last  shop I go to, rarely bother with play, cdwow and the other old faves since they've lost their way over time :(

Actually, I often forget to go to Sainsburys and Tesco online!

As you say, maybe they're pre-empting postage charges, swallowing up any profit on free p&p, or charging p&p putting ppl off.

Online downloads I guess will be v cheap for them, cos I doubt they'll do any of it, it will just be a Sainsbury's skin put on an a copy of an exisitng download supllier's site, hoping for trade from the supermarket's name.

I think HMV's new online store is download only

That's unfortunate; I'd been using them quite a lot recently.
