Page 1 of Play / cd-wow customs charges?
Retailer Reviews Forum
Hiya,
I want to pick up a couple of dvd boxsets (ER, Alias) and will probably be getting the region 1 versions. When I go to cd-wow it warns me that I may be charged customs as its over my personal allownace.
When I`ve ordered r1s from play in the past I havent had problems, but can`t remember if I`ve ever bought an r1 boxset through them, so my question is, will play charge me customs.
I know that they are a bit more professional than cd-wow (no disrespect) so I expect that the customs charge has already been included but can anyone clarify this for me please?
RE: Play / cd-wow customs charges?
If you want to buy R1 from Play, then it`s their PlayUSA site you need to use.
If you buy R1 stuff and the value is over £18 then there is a very good chance you`ll be charged customs. If you order R2 stuff from Play and it`s over £18 you will not be charged extra.
With CD Wow, TTBOMK, you run the risk of being charged for all regions if over £18.
I`m sure I`ll be corrected if anything above is inaccurate.

Think everything you said is correct mate, if you order Region 2 from Play you will never be charged anything but if you buy something over £18 from Play there is a good chance you will be charged customs which could be as high as £8 extra on a £20 Boxset. With CD Wow, if you order anything over £18 chances are you will be charged customs so the best idea is to look for a website which will refund the custom charges if you get charged, there are a few around but I would go for Movetyme.
Thanks for all the advice guys. I had completely forgotten about movietyme. I haven`t used them for about 3 years (I always used play when I first started my collection as didn`t buy R1s at first)
Once again, thanks for everything
