Anywhere in Central London For R1 Dvd`s??

joe pineapples (Competent) posted this on Thursday, 22nd February 2001, 07:59

Hello

Has anyone tried the Tottenham Court Rd area of London for R1 dvd titles?

Or maybe any other recommended shops in central London would be appreciated - perhaps a very cheap place for R2 stuff as well?

Joe

Don`t think you`ll have any joy from any retail type outlet in the UK for R1
titles. It is illegal for them to sell them to you (haven`t been through the
BBFC for certificates/cuts etc). Some shops will allow some sort of personal importation orders but I suspect the cost will be much higher than direct buying from the `net. Personally, I`d stick to ordering from reputable suppliers (e.g. www.dvdboxoffice.com, www.play247.com or even dare I speak it www.Amazon.com). I use dvdboxoffice (cheap, but can take 2 weeks to arrive)

Cheers

Stand corrected SN you can buy R1 movies from Computer Exchange. There are two branches, the first being on TCR and the second just around the corner (cannot remember name of the road). If you pop into the branch on Tottenham Ct Road, they`ll tell you where the 2nd branch is. Note that they are 2nd hand but they more often than not have loads of fab titles....

There are a few computer markets which run on Saturdays in the Tot Ct rd/Warren st. area, (signs everywhere) at least two.

They sell latest R1 dvds, usually a lot earlier that official US release date, but they usually cost about £17-20 not cheap compared to web, but if its speed you want...
