I ordered pitch black on the 6th of jan, and recieved it on the 29th.
My point being is that although i saved £3.24 by ordering it from DVDBO as opposed to play247, it has taken over 3 weeks for the film to arrive. I am pretty sure from past experience that for the extra 3 quid i could have got the film by the 10th of Jan from play.
You are right DVDBO take longer but they are cheaper. Depends what you want. Sometimes if it`s a film that you desparately want then order from Play247 if not go for DVDBO. From my experience, usual turnaround time is about 10 days though.
Hope this helps!
I have now been converted to use Play247, due to the amount of time you have to wait for Boxoffice to send to you never mind how long it takes for it to arrive... can`t wait won`t wait !!!!!
DVD Box Office are erratic.
Once my DVD`s arrived in less then 5 day`s.
Another time they went on back order.
and I never saw them for 6 weeks:(
It strikes me that dealing with R1 etailers is an erratic business. Sometimes they have the disks, sometimes they don`t. It applies to all the etailers on either side of the Puddle. I don`t know about preorders (yet), but my experience of backorders is you have to *wait*. Changing your supplier every time they make you wait is a sure way to give yourself an ulcer. If you absolutely, positively cannot wait for a title I suggest you make special arrangements (and pay $30) for express delivery.
I`m sticking with DVDBO as my number one R1 etailer as they seem to be a)cheap and b)consistent. I also like the anonymous packaging they use. The answer to delivery delays is simply to chill out. You`ll live longer.
Boxoffice do not hold any stock which is why if you order something after its released, its already backordered.
For pre-orders, make sure you have ordered them by the wednesday before the film is due out (nearly a week before).
What are these guys like with customs? Does the "anonymous" packaging avoid import tax?
If i`m right you only get charged tax if the value of the import is over 18 quid?
So what about buying SE`s(2 discs) such as Fight Club, T2, Seven, etc, does the "anonymous" packaging help avoid tax on these?
If not it would be cheaper, & quicker, to buy from Play on SE titles(2 Disc).
Also do they use registered post, courier, or what?
Which supplier is best for SE`s(2 discs) now?
OT a bit but i noticed that Play only sell the double sided(flipper) version of T2 UE, whereas DVDBO do the 2 disc one in the nice silver sleeve. Does it make a diffrence, apart from casing & having 2 turn the disc over every now & then.

A good site for Region 1`s is www.teejaysdvds.co.uk, they have a brilliant service and are based in the UK.
Use anyone Other than DVD BOX, they take so so long, and thats just to Invoice you, then you have to wait for Mr postie to bring it to you....!!!!!
