I need a simple time lapse app

Mikeonfreeserve (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 1st December 2020, 21:32

I'd like to be able to take a photo automatically every 10 minutes over an 8 hour period to see our new cabin being put up. Has anyone come across anything suitable? Oh, the cabin? It's what we saved by not going on holiday 😃

Will you be using a phone for the photography? A lot of modern phones have amazing cameras with timelapse capabilities built in. If yours doesn't, I have used Lapse it in the past. I splurged and bought the full version, but there is a limited free version as well.

As for your project, I'd consider more images per hour. One frame every ten minutes over 8 hours will give you 2 seconds of footage at 25fps. One frame per minute would probably be more suitable (gives about 20 seconds for the 8 hours), but if it works out too slow and long-winded, you can always speed it up in editing afterwards. Better to have too many frames than not enough.

Best plug it into the mains as well

Thanks Pete, I'll check out Lapse.

It's not a video I want and apologies if I've not used the right term.

I just want a series of photos that I can cherry pick from to see the progress.

Up in 2 seconds...... there's sharpish!

Totally agree with Pete. If the camera's gonna be mounted for that long you might as well have it take more pics. You'll be quite impressed how the time-lapse looks.
