Page 1 of mobile phone recommendation please

my cheap Chinese dougee x3 is on its last legs, the touch screen is temperamental sometime I have to turn it round so the thing i want to press is the other side of the screen! really annoying to unlock :(

so not sure whether to get something cheap like a Xiami Note, or maybe spend a bit more on a Huawaei p10 lite. That p10 lite is about a year old, but does come with Android Nougat.

I don't want to spend more than £200. I was hoping to wait unto the new Moto range is out which should be soon, but not sure I can put up with this phone much longer :(

I'm on Virgin mobile, and there line up of phones doesn't look great to me, Sony Xperia XA1 or L1 look OKish.

I'm not a massive app user, so I think 16gb is prob ok. this phone is 8gb so 16gb is probably enough especially since some apps you can move to the sd card?

So, in short, I'm not adverse to cheap and cheerful, but if say £10 more will give me something loads better than great, but I'm def not buying the new Samsung or iPhone. As long as I can still play Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, camera, sms and calls would be nice to :)

My phone's started doing similar things - and I can't actually answer calls 'cos I can't swipe that part of the screen - so I'm also looking for an imminent replacement. I don't have anything in mind yet but I want something not too budget: 5.5" screen at least, 32gb minimum, NFC and half decent camera are my red lines! (preferably fingerprint scanner too).

The Moto range seems best VFM but I don't want to buy a year old phone when new one is about to come out, unless last year's gets really big reductions. on hukd there's been a few reductions

I'd go for a Moto if it were me. I got the G4 Plus through work in 2016 and it's still a very capable device. We've moved onto the G5s now (non plus version), which are a bit smaller, but will be getting Oreo. You can get Plus versions of them though.

The cameras are really good, they are fairly responsive, charge quickly, and have decent screens.

Have a look at the Honor 6x also. NFC, good battery life, & the best finger scanner I've used. Great screen too.
