Annie's tablet bricked itself - stuck on 'erasing'
Acer A1-810 suddenly started shutting down and restarting a few days ago, but was still largely useable, until yesterday when it wouldn't reboot at all, getting stuck on the starup flash screen. After making sure we had all the pics and videos backed up on the SD card, I entered the recovery menu (vol+/power) and selected 'wipe memory and re-install' (or words to that effect'. The screen then froze with a couple of command lines at the bottom. Upon restarting again we had the animated 'erasing' screen, but it's been stuck on that screen for an hour, and a quick google brings up similar stories, with little to no success stories that don;t involve sending the tablet back to Acer for a repair
Any suggestions?

Sounds like internal storage has faults. :/

I've had the back off the thing, but as they're essentially SSDs with a touchscreen, there's nothing there I can obviously see that's off. I prefer moving parts :(

Sometimes the SSD is a module, but more than likely it is solderd directly onto the motherboard. :/

You may have tried this but........The hardware reset pin hole is located between the Micro HDMI port and Microphone
RE: Annie's tablet bricked itself - stuck on 'erasing'
Yup, done that. Held down everything while pressing everything else. All research points to sending it off for repair, but given the cost of the thing, it'll cost about the same just to buy a cheapie from Argos

You could try the method used to resurrect an apparently dead playbook which is to charge for 2 minutes, disconnect, charge for 2 minutes , etc., several times. This step charging method can revive the battery if there was insufficient power to kick it into boot mode.
