Or you can put yourself under a different name, and have absolutely no followers, and friends, family and workmates cannot find you at all.
I tell a lie, I did get one French follower, a hooker who wanted to go out out on the town in Lion, but she soon left when she got no response. How she found my page was a total mystery, maybe she was a data sharing person, ahhhh!
