Page 1 of USB Drive Recommendations...

I`ve been doing some browsing for a 8GB or 16GB USB Drive that I can keep on my key ring too as this means I`ll have it with me pretty much all the time.

I don`t mind paying a bit more to get something which looks a bit nicer but it must not have a removable head cover.

This is the best I`ve found:

Does anyone have any personal recommendations?

I`ve got the normal 8gig version of these, not titanium and they were a tenner from Makro.
Everywhere was doing them for that, but they don`t have a ring for the keys, they have that little bar that you shove a thread through as a loop, bring back on itself and secure?
That description is crap but I think you know what I mean.. like a camera lens cover that has the securing loop...

Dongles are just black plastic and retractable USB connector, the retractor glows orange when in a USB slot receiving power.

The Dane elec seem to have the better keyring point.

Ahh the removable head cover. What a joke.
The biggest joke though was the design I saw a few years back by Kingston who looked like they had decided to combat the "losing the lid" problem by putting the keyring part on the lid. As a result you just lost the pen drive instead. You never lost the lid though 

I usually get mine from My Memory and personally I prefer Lexar

In the end I went for the Kingston 16GB DataTraveler DT100 - £15.99

Excuse the stupid question, but is there anything seperates good USBs from bad ones?
Or is it another `fancy HDMI cable` style debate?
I`m currently using a 4GB I got for £6 from Asda, for music files in my car.
Should I consider better?

I`ve heard stories of some of the cheap ones you get on ebay from the Far East failing soon after purchasing.  It`s like most things though, if you`ve had no problems with it then you`d recommend them to others but I`m sure someone on here will tell you a horror story and tell you not to touch them with a barge pole!

I think genuine Kingston/Crucial and Sandisk ones are genuinely thought of as reliable.  I`ve used cheap ones in the past with no problems and have yet to have one fail!

I think you can also pay more money for faster read/write speeds.

Should I consider better?There are differences in read/write speeds but for most people - especially those using it for file transfer/backup, there`s no noticeable difference.  Except the dodgy ones that soon fail from ebay etc.
I thought you were a `fancy HDMI cable` convert`?
