Page 1 of how LONG have you had a computer??

when i worked as a night watchman in the 80s we had a computer there that monitored the alarms... it was an all in one thing with a green screen... no games or nothing... that was my only expreince with a computer til i got my laptop in 2002... it was an impulse buy... i had it about four months before i connected to trhe internet. it was like a whole new world... i was on there all day and night (was unemployed) and i,m a bit ashamed to say i started getting quite alot into downloading porn... : ( it served me right though i got a computer virus that kept shutting my computer off... but my m8 (who wrote my website) showed me how to browse safely (don,t download things etc) and he put a firewall on there and anti virus things... im ok now... ive been on the www now for a good 2 years odd now

Nine happy years.

My cousins gave me their Sinclair ZX81 in around 1986, and I got an Amstrad CPC464 in around 1988.

My first PC was a 386SX 25MHz mono notebook, with 2MB RAM and a 60MB HDD, which I got second hand around 1993, when I was at university. This was running Word 2.0 and Excel 4.0 under Windows 3.1, but since it lacked a maths co-processor, needed a floating point emulator in order to run Matlab 3.5 and Orcad.

It was pretty useful until Matlab 4.0 and Windows 95 came out, since there weren`t enough PCs to go around in the engineering department at university. As a result, whenever there was a project due in, everyone on my course, who didn`t have access to a PC, had to get up earlier than the art students, in order to find a PC somewhere on campus.

Worked for a company\got into electronics about 1985\6 & bought my first machine Acorn Electron, had the run of BBC B, C64, Atari, Sinclair Speccies, Amstrad 464 & PCW`s. Was o/l then using Prestel at work

Next machine was a ex-work BBC B in 1987, followed by a Amstrad PPC 1989. Various PC`s since then. Joined the internet about 1997, when I bought my first PC with Win 95 (the aged AST, sold off recently to a friend).

It`s coming up for this PC`s 4th birthday and it`s beginning to get a bit past it. I`m currently backing all my files up in preparation for a system recovery I`m performing tomorrow

My dad bought a 16MHz 396 system in 1990 (when I was 7)

I used to do word processed school work - quite a fancy thing then!

So I`ve had access to a computer at home for 14-15 years now.
