My computer keeps bloody restarting! =(

Jason Bagnall (Competent) posted this on Wednesday, 28th May 2003, 11:07

So damn often now, it decided to just restart on me, it`s now a regular thing! It`s done it 3 times in the last hour! I have no clue at what`s wrong with this piece of crap, can anyone give me sugestions?!

I`m running on Windows XP Pro

Thanks.

It`s not a Packard Bell is it?

Updated any drivers recently? I had a similar problem when I upgraded my nVidia drivers as the newer ones really dont seem to like my motherboard. Probably not the same issue but could be something similar.

Could be dodgy video drivers, very likely if it bluescreens with IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL errors.

Could also be blown capacitors on your board, a PSU with too low power output, the list goes on. :)

PC overheating could also cause this

Thanks for the sugestions guys, it`s a real problem now to be honest & am starting to wonder if I need to send it away for a fix. Even after my routine formats every three or four months, the problem has persisted =(

For the record, yes, it is a Packard Bell.

When I had a PB it would always restart, I wouldn`t touch them again wiht a barge pole. Within 3 months of getting it I had had about 30 engineer visits with new hard drives, new modems, new RAM, a new motherboard, a new DVD drive, the lot.

Here`s a recommendation:

Don`t spit on Packard Bell if they`re on fire.

I`ve got a Packard Bell and mine has just started doing this ever since I got Brandband installed. It`s a right pain in the arse especailly when copying CD`s and it restarts when it`s writing the lead in ruining the blank disc.

I had this problem with an elite K7 mobo, turned out to be faulty ram, took me a fortnight to sort it out,now running a gig of crucial ram, no probs now
