Page 1 of Best Rock band in the world ever......?

This thread has got to be started - what is the best rock/metal band?

Well i reckon you can forget your Aerosmith, Metallica, Def Leppard, Whitesnake, Y&T, Dokken, Dio, Rainbow, Poison, Skid Row, Motley Crue and GnR?

Well none of the above i reckon, iron maiden come close with some classics - run to the hills, number of the beast but for my money it has to be AC/DC

Im watching No Bull live on DVD with the volume blasting and there is no better band.

Rock on AC/DC!

Any thoughts? Perhaps this is one for the poll?

Rage Against The Machine or Foo Fighters for me.

Deep Purple, with Ian Gillan.
Led Zepplin.

and from USA: Aerosmith.

my other favorite would be Neil Young and Crazy Horse.

Motorhead are the real deal in my view...and maybe I`d concede AC/DC in a weak moment... ;)

I`d have to agree with Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin, very hard to choose between the two :D

I do agree with the AC/DC & Foo Fighters suggestions, too! I`m also beginning to realise how under-rated Thin Lizzy were!

You`re kidding ... I mean they`re great but ...under-rated they certainly weren`t! They were huge in their day (sure they had a couple of number one albums and played huge venues etc) and have been the subjects of a constant stream of re-issues... :/

Some good calls so far... there is AC/DC tribute band playing near me soon called Live/Wire - anybody seen them? If so what they like?

(Another debate - best tribute act - best I have seen so far is the Counterfit Stones - superb live!)

There`s some good tribute bands in the north east. I can recommend Powerage for all AC/DC fans. The best I`ve seen were called something like UTour. The whole band sounded exactly like U2 and dressed like the band circa Joshua Tree / Rattle and Hum but sadly the singer looked like Zed from Police Academy!!!!
