RE: PC and Laserjet Printer connected via Parallel lead through port replicator

Sometimes, it takes over 3 hours to come on, sometimes two hours, it varies.
That is whay I thought that it could have been something to do with the Laptop (Dell) communicating via the parallel port of the replicator to the printer "stopping it coming on".
I will try and switch on and leave it running (until i get my new Samsung).

I must admit that the Laserjet is a fantastic printer, just a shame no USB (and from above post a properly working mains supply unit).

RE: PC and Laserjet Printer connected via Parallel lead through port replicator

bloomin eck, have already bought two replacement carts for this at £25 each, just ordered a samsung ML 2240 (cheap for work stuff) >:(

RE: PC and Laserjet Printer connected via Parallel lead through port replicator

Well it appears that it is not the mains lead after all.
Tried a different lead and effect was the same.
However when switching the printer on, it seems to take over an hour to actually come on :/
Don`t know what the problem is, can only assume that there is an intermittent fault somewhere in the mains supply circuitry, etc.

RE: PC and Laserjet Printer connected via Parallel lead through port replicator

It`s working again.
Found that it was caused by a faulty mains lead.

Yes the printer is over 5 years old, but it prints all my work emails and documents brilliantly (When the mains lead is fixed) :D

PC and Laserjet Printer connected via Parallel lead through port replicator

Anyone know if my Dell Laptop PC running Windows XP controls my old Laserjet 111P switching on via software?

The printer does now not switch on when I push the on button, however it starts working for no apparent reason sometimes an hour after switch on? It has only started happening recently, so thought it might have something to do with the laptop controlling the switching on of the Laserjet.

Or possibly could just be a fault on the printer.

Any ideas please?

RE: Evesham LCD TV`s

Could a TV Sender be used to transmit from TV in living room to PC Monitor.
If a Tuner is needed, then would probably be better to get a cheap PC mini type barebones or similar with a TV card.

PC monitor, Cheap easy way to watch Freeview without a PC?

As title, have a new Dell 22" TFT LCD Monitor, can I watch TV (Freeview) using the monitor without a PC connected (i.e. in the Kitchen)? What do I need? (Cheap please).

RE: Ashes to Ashes - Was it on last night?

Is Keely the girl in the red coat with the Ballon in LOM?

RE: Songs you have played to death this week...

Johnny - Thin Lizzy, what a riff. :D

RE: Timeless Classics

David Bowie - Life on Mars?

RE: Ipod Classic 80Gb - TV out lead

Yes, I tried TV Out and PAL and NTSC (just in case) and only got sound, not sure if mono or stereo though & no video.
I supose it could be that the colours on the lead are incorrect?
Too late to try it now, but may try tomorrow.

I read somewhere that the new Ipod classic has Video out disabled from the headphone port and will only out put video from the bottom dock connector port. However this does not seem to work with the lead I have. Maybe a faulty lead or incorrect one?

Any more ideas?

RE: Ipod Classic 80Gb - TV out lead

Recieved TV out lead - Composite, Ipod dock connection on one end and three phono plugs( Red, White-Audio and Yellow-Video) on the other, does not work on the new Ipod Classic 80Gb :(

Orange HomeMax

Anyone had any experiance of this service?
Is it any good, etc

RE: I Tunes - Exporting playlist to TXT file or to Excel

It just comes out as a tab separated file. Open in Excel and it works great

Done this, works great, thanks.

I Tunes - Exporting playlist to TXT file or to Excel

I have found that you can export a playlist to a txt file, but when exported all tracks are jumbled up with no structure to be able to read properly. Can this file be exported to Excel or WinWord in such a way as it is tabulated or otherwise formatted to allow for easy reading/printing?

Help please.

Note, I am trying to export playlist of approx. 2000 songs. So that I know what is on the Ipod Classic (80Gb).

Is there any other way to do this with a 3rd party program?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Free Video Converter for Ipod

Recently found this, which is useful for converting to Ipod format, part of the suite of programs available is a Youtube video converter to ipod format and youtube downloader, etc seems very good so far and is free :D

RE: Ipod Classic 80Gb - TV out lead

Thanks for the help, have placed order.

RE: Ipod Classic 80Gb - TV out lead

Apparently the new classic will only output to TV via the bottom port and not the headphone port. I stand to be corrected.
