Yep, time for another "best ..." list:
My vote for best guitar solo is "Comfortably Numb" on CD2 of Pink Floyd`s "Pulse" which is simply awesome. And to make matters worse, my m8 was there to hear it live, the git!
Slash on `Sweet Child o` Mine` by Guns n` Roses from the album `Appetite for Destruction`
Man that guys got fast fingers

Big Sick Ugly Jim Martin - Faith No More, The Cowboy Song. For once a guitar solo that compliments a song instead of the obigatory post extended chorus axe w***ing that we hear from the `greats`
In my opinion, has to be Kirk Hammet`s solo in Metallica`s One.
Or for sheer fingers melting on the fretboard, has to be the final solo in Slayer`s Angel of Death, that or any of the other solos on Reign in Blood. ...ahhh `80`s metal... i have some old CD`s to listen to.
Definitely Kirk Hammet, but different song - Unforgiven, from the `black` album. Difficult to imagine the song without that defining solo. Top s***!

For me it has to be Devin Townsend on his song `Deep Peace` from the Terria record, after the breakdown towards the end.....the following solo is, for want of a better word, sexual. Gets me every time.
Anything by Brian May from Queen.
Sorry but the Lynyrd Skynyrd "Freebird" solo is, bar none, the best guitar solo of all time... closely followed by the Gazza finger-melt on "Fog on the Tyne".
